Pray for the Church
Praise God for freedom from our sins which can only be found through faith in Christ. Thank God for the freedoms we experience in our nation. Pray for wisdom in how to best live as good neighbors in our country knowing our ultimate citizenship is in Heaven. Pray for the leaders in our city, state, and nation to trust Christ, grow in their knowledge of God and His Word, and devote their lives to obediently following after Him.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Lifeline Children’s Services, a Christ-centered holistic orphan care ministry in Birmingham, Alabama. Lifeline serves families by supporting them in adoption, foster care, education, and international orphan care. They partner with us to train for foster care, support foster care and adoptive families, and equip us for trauma care. We’re also praying for The Church at Liberty Park and Pastor Randy Overstreet.
Day 1: Pray for Lifeline’s Pregnancy Counseling Ministry. Pray that expectant mothers would find Lifeline and feel led to reach out to them. Pray that these women would see the hope in adoption and choose life. Pray for the pregnancy counselors as they walk with these families. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide their conversations and ultimately point them toward Jesus. Pray for local churches to be ready to disciple and mentor women in unexpected pregnancies.
Day 2: Pray for Lifeline’s Foster Care and Family Restoration Ministry. Pray that the Lord would bring families who are mission-minded and have hearts ready to share the gospel with kids entering their homes. Pray for Lifeline’s ongoing relationship with DHR to continue to grow and deepen. Pray for the children in foster care. Pray that they find healing, that there is a quick reunification process when safe, and that families feel supported. Pray for more foster families to be willing to take older children, teens, sibling groups, and medical special needs.
Day 3: Pray for Lifeline’s (un)adopted® Ministry. Pray for the estimated 140 million children around the world that are living in orphanages and the 38,493 teens that age out of those facilities every day. Pray for the (un)adopted® staff as they seek to train orphanage workers, equip local churches, and love and care for these children well.
Day 4: Pray for Lifeline’s Domestic Adoption Program. Pray for birth parents to see Jesus in the families that they choose for their little ones. Pray for adoptive families to know how to disciple and care for their child and for their child’s birth family. Pray for families who are open to children with special needs. Also, pray for endurance for those who have been waiting a long time for a chance at adoption.
Day 5: Pray for Lifeline’s International Adoption Program working in 19 countries around the world. Pray for encouragement and strength for the social workers who work diligently to make international adoptions possible. Pray that the Lord would bring Lifeline families who are mission-minded and gospel-centered and that the Lord would provide the financial provisions needed for those families. Pray for families called to pursue older children, sibling groups, and children with special needs.
Day 6: Pray for Lifeline’s Staff. Pray that each staff member is encouraged in the work of the Lord through the ministry. Pray for open staff positions across the country to be filled, and for wisdom for those involved in the interviews. Pray for the leadership of Lifeline (staff and board) to make God-honoring decisions in continuing to steer the ministry of Lifeline and its growth.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. They are a primary partner for Brook Hills in sending missionaries. The IMB works to send missionaries to every area of the world to make disciples of all nations.
Day 1: Praise the Lord for the many ways that God is platforming believers all over the world to proclaim the gospel through the IMB. Pray that the Lord would continue to open doors for the IMB to platform more believers in the unreached areas of the world.
Day 2: Praise the Lord for raising up 15 Brook Hills partners from among us that have been able to be platformed for mid-term and long-term service through the IMB. Pray for our two summer Mid-Termers who will be returning soon. Pray that they would finish well and that the long-term team they are leaving will be encouraged and fueled by their time and support there.
Day 3: Pray for those that are in leadership with the IMB. Pray that the Lord would give them wisdom as they lead and that they would have unity among one another and their partner churches.
Day 4: Pray and ask God to continue to use the IMB to make the gospel known among unreached people. Pray for those that have been confirmed to serve with the IMB. Pray they would be encouraged and help to strengthen those that are already on the field in boldly proclaiming the gospel with clarity.
Day 5: Pray for those who are considering going to the nations through the IMB and have begun the process. Pray for their discernment and encouragement as they seek to be faithful however the Lord leads.
Day 6: Praise the Lord for the partnership He has given Brook Hills with the IMB. Pray for this partnership to continue to strengthen the church here and among the nations. Pray that this partnership would continue to grow and mutually encourage and strengthen one another.
