Pray for the Church
Praise God for hearing our cries and answering our prayers. Pray for God’s strength to endure and to grow in our trust in Him. Ask Him to help us find more contentment and joy in Him. Thank God for the grace He lavishes upon us.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for racial reconciliation and unity in the Body of Christ, especially in Birmingham, for the sake of effectively demonstrating, displaying, and declaring the power of the gospel and the glory of God together. We’re also praying this week for New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Thomas Beavers.
Day 1: Pray for all church leaders in Birmingham to reflect the unity of the Spirit by initiating partnerships and friendships with one another as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20), the Great Commandments (Matt. 22:37-39), and the Great Requirement (Micah 6:8) in our city.
Day 2: Pray for all believers across Birmingham to pursue unity with believers of other ethnicities showing love, grace, and humility in a way that displays Christ’s character to the entire city.
Day 3: Pray for the advancement of the gospel and the planting of new churches throughout Birmingham among all ethnicities and within all communities.
Day 4: Pray that the Spirit would lead Christians of all ethnicities to walk in forgiveness toward one another, extending grace to those who have caused division or have acted unjustly in their prejudices.
Day 5: Pray that evangelical church leaders across the city would especially be willing to mobilize their people to make disciples in urban areas and among ethnicities that are isolated from the Church.
Day 6: Pray that God would make us aware of our own sin, prejudices, ignorance, and apathy, and would use our faith family to tear down the barriers that continue to divide His Body in Birmingham.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the International Mission Board (IMB), a Brook Hills partner for sending missionaries. The IMB is the primary mission organization for Southern Baptist churches and works in every area of the world to make disciples of all peoples in fulfillment to the Great Commission. The Church at Brook Hills partners with the IMB in sending short-term, mid-term, long-term and church planting teams overseas.
Day 1: Praise God for the ways He has used the IMB to make the gospel known throughout the world. Pray for God to continue to open up multiple pathways through the IMB for more believers to be sent to the least-reached peoples and places.
Day 2: Pray for wisdom and clarity as the IMB moves forward in their strategy to support the local church as God accomplishes the Great Commission through His people.
Day 3: Praise God for those He has raised up, called, and confirmed to serve with the IMB. Pray for God to encourage and strengthen workers in the field as they boldly share the gospel and make disciples among all peoples.
Day 4: Pray for IMB President Dr. Paul Chitwood and others in senior leadership. Pray for God to give wisdom as they lead the IMB to glorify God and support churches as they make disciples of all nations.
Day 5: Pray for God to use the IMB to make His name known among unreached people groups in greater ways than ever before.
Day 6: Thank God for the partnership He has given us at Brook Hills with the IMB. Pray for this partnership to continue to grow as people go and serve the nations through the IMB.
