Pray for the Church
Praise God for how He sovereignly orchestrated generations to bring about the birth of Christ in His perfect timing. Thank Him for those who have gone before us who are in the line of faithful witnesses who ensured we received the message of the gospel. Pray for Him to help us be bold with our own witness throughout this holiday season.
Pray for the City
This week, we are praying for The Lovelady Center, a residential Christian ministry dedicated to empowering women to overcome barriers such as addiction, homelessness, and re-entry from prison, and to walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future. The Lovelady Center serves over 500 women and children daily and is the largest transitional program of its kind in the country. The women and their children stay six to nine months and then WorkFaith Birmingham prepares many of them for work as they leave the center. We are also praying for North Shelby Baptist Church and Pastor Jared Cornutt.
DAY 1: Pray for revival at The Lovelady Center. Pray for all of the women and children at The Lovelady Center tol be open and responsive to the gospel and receptive to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
DAY 2: Pray for the children of the Lovelady’s Center. Pray for educators and providers to be able to meet the needs of the children academically and emotionally. Pray for the children to develop a passion for God and people. Pray their previous trauma would not negatively impact their future.
DAY 3: Pray for safety for all The Lovelady participants. Pray for a hedge of protection around The Lovelady Center, the clients and volunteers, the children, and transportation of the ladies and their children traveling to appointments and work.
DAY 4: Pray for the Lovelady’s Santa’s Workshop, where mothers will be able to choose a special gift for their child for Christmas. Pray an abundance of gifts would be provided, especially for teenage boys, who are particularly hard to shop for. Pray that as each child receives this special gift from their mom, they would better understand the even greater gift that is Christmas.
DAY 5: Pray for the generous champions of The Lovelady Center. Pray each generous donor and volunteer would be abundantly rewarded for the giving of their gifts.
DAY 6: Pray for continued financial provision for The Lovelady Center. Pray the funds given by generous donors and partners would match the current ministry needs. Pray for wisdom as the board and staff seek to always be good stewards of the financial gifts given.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for one of our long-term partners, Sarah W. Sarah and her team serve in North Africa. She has just completed 1 year on the field.
DAY 1: Pray for Lulu*, Hannah*, Samantha*, and Mary*. Pray they would desire to talk about spiritual things, and not just want to debate. Pray their hearts would be softened to the gospel. Pray for the lies of the enemy to be drowned out by the Truth that will set them free.
DAY 2: Pray for Isabelle*, a new believer. Pray that the seed of the gospel would take root and not be snatched away by the cares of the world. Pray that she would grow in love for the Word, and in discernment and wisdom to put off sin and her old self, and to grow in righteousness and pursuit of Christ.
DAY 3: Pray for Sarah and her team as they begin to brainstorm and plan for future business opportunities in their country. Pray for clear direction for each of them and that the Lord would connect them to people who can help them in the process.
DAY 4: Pray for grace and wisdom for Sarah and her team as they face new challenges and changes in their team. Pray they would all grow in personal humility and love for one another.
DAY 5: Pray for Sarah’s language learning. She has studied Arabic for a year and will continue over the coming years. Pray for understanding and diligence in her studies. Pray for grace and patience as she learns and attempts to speak and to listen well to the locals around her. Pray for God to give her a supernatural ability to speak and understand the local Arabic language.
DAY 6: Pray for wisdom for Sarah to know where to invest relationally, and for the Lord to bring people into her life who are hungry to know Truth. Pray that she would be led by the Spirit and grow in dependence and trust in the Lord.
