Praise God the Father for sending His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for us all to see Jesus is the only way for our sins to be forgiven and for us to be restored to right relationship with God. Ask Him to strengthen us all to boldly testify to who we know Jesus to be.
This week we are praying for Oliver Elementary School and the other Gate City area schools as they begin classes on August 2, as well as for the many avenues of ministry through which Brook Hills members and others will be investing in the lives of students, families, and staff throughout the 2021-22 school year. We’re also praying this week for Redeemer Community Church and Pastor Joel Brooks.
Day 1: Pray for favor with the Birmingham City School administration. Pray that as the Delta variant is on the rise, the BCS administration would still see the abundant value of having volunteers on campus to support the teachers and staff and to mentor and tutor the students. Pray that our many partners like Aspire, Discovery Clubs, NorthStar Soccer, etc., would also be allowed on campus to serve the children and families of Oliver Elementary School.
Day 2: Praise God for the positive relationships with administrators and staff at Oliver Elementary School that have opened the door for Brook Hills members to build meaningful relationships with Oliver students and families over the past twelve years. Pray for God’s continued grace as we search for new ways to support Oliver families following a year-long pandemic.
Day 3: Pray for the teachers who are influencing and educating Oliver students on a daily basis. Pray that as they prepare for students return to the classroom they would have a peace about returning and a plan to stay healthy. Pray that they would be joyful and compassionate as they work with students coming from hard places.
Day 4: Pray for the children who are returning to school this year and are trying to navigate the learning loss caused by the pandemic. Pray they will find the support and guidance needed. Pray that their brains can comprehend and store the knowledge they need to be successful in school this year. Pray for their physical and mental health.
Day 5: Praise God for the generosity of Brook Hills this year to the Love Oliver campaign, raising over $60,000 to provide classroom supplies for 25 classrooms, a rolling science lab to be accessed by all the Oliver classrooms, and robotics kits to begin an after-school robotics club. Pray that as the Oliver students have access to new technology, they will grow a love for math and science.
Day 6: Pray for the Love Oliver initiative to serve its purpose to support and empower Oliver families by coming alongside them in Jesus’ name to love, serve, empower, and point them to Christ. Pray for many to follow Christ this year.
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Long-Termer KB serving among Central Asian peoples. KB is part of a broader Brook Hills team engaging a least-reached Central Asian people group living in the Middle East. Their desire is to see the Father move to open hearts to the gospel, that many will come to faith in Christ, and that a healthy multiplying church will be established among them. Join us this week as we pray for KB and her teammates as they engage the lost with the gospel.
Day 1: KB will be returning back to the states next month as she finishes her term overseas. Pray for her transition back to the states to be smooth. Pray for her mind to be set on Christ as she moves into a new stage of life and ministry.
Day 2: Pray for God to provide more opportunities for KB and her teammates to interact with women in their community. Pray for fruitful friendships that lead to gospel conversations.
Day 3: In her time left, pray for KB to have more opportunities to encourage local brothers and sisters that are facing persecution. Pray for her words and deeds to strengthen their faith as she points them to Christ in His suffering.
Day 4: KB has many strong friendships in her city that she will say goodbye to next month. Pray for the Lord to help KB share the gospel clearly in these final visits with the women she has met. Pray that they would listen and seek Christ.
Day 5: Pray for God to give KB grace and joy in her final days in her city.
Day 6: Pray for KB to continue to abide in God’s Word and remain faithful to the things He has given her to steward. Pray for God to encourage her through the body of believers she is connected with, and to provide for her every need so she might bring Him glory.
