Praise God for His gracious provision in our lives. Thank Him for the privilege it is to approach Him in prayer. Ask Him to help us all learn to turn to Him first and foremost for all we need in life and to discover His will and purpose for us. Pray for us all to live lives for gratitude for all the good He provides us and works in us. 

This week we are praying for Christian Service Mission, a ministry committed to loving the underserved and under-resourced residents of Birmingham in partnership with local churches. They serve the community through acts of service by providing spiritual, social, and tangible resources for the purpose of seeing healthy change. We’re also praying this week for Philadelphia Baptist Church and Pastor Ryan Adams.

Day 1: CSM’s ministry is only possible with the participation of the local church. Pray for unity in the Body of Christ as participating congregations and Christ-followers come together to serve the city alongside CSM for the sake of gospel advancement.

Day 2: Pray for CSM to be a good steward of its resources. Pray for the people who receive the resources to be encouraged in their faith knowing that God hears their prayers. If they are not believers, pray they will be open to the gospel and that their hearts and lives will be changed. 

Day 3: “Pursuing Oneness” is a core value at CSM. Please join us in praying for the global church to be unified, for racial, economic, and social strongholds in Birmingham to be broken, and for the gospel to be proclaimed. 
 
Day 4: The Housing Ministry of CSM works to repair and build new homes, improve living conditions, and develop communities within the inner city. Pray they would love and serve families well and encourage individuals toward healthier lives physically, spiritually, and socially.

Day 5: Pray for CSM’s Evangelism Ministry and its many outreach programs that take place during the year. Pray that Christ would be exalted as His gospel is proclaimed throughout the city.  

Day 6: Pray for the staff at CSM to humbly seek the Lord for all guidance, wisdom, discernment, favor, and blessing. Pray that their service to the community would be an overflow of the love and mercy they have received. Pray that the Lord will call people to work at CSM as there are currently several vacant positions.

This week, we are praying for the Southern People Groups of Oman. There are five different people groups in the Dhofar region of Oman. Each of these has its own distinct languages, and none of them have the Bible in their native language.

Day 1: Pray for the Jibali people group. This is the largest minority tribe in Oman. They have their own distinct language, Jibali, but no copy of the Word. Pray for translation work. There are people there learning the language in order to translate the Word into their heart language. 

Day 2: Pray for the Mahari people group. They are a nomadic people, living in the desert with camels. They are in Southern Oman, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia. They do not have the written Word in their language. It is said, “If you reach the Mahari with the gospel, you will reach the whole Arabian Peninsula.” Pray for the gospel to reach this nomadic people and then spread throughout the Arabian Peninsula.

Day 3: Pray for the Hobiot people group. This people group is small, and their language is dying out. They live on the Oman/Yemen border. Pray that they will come into contact with believers and hear the gospel. They do not have the written Word in their language. 

Day 4: Pray for the Arabs in Dhofar. While they are Omani, they are super proud of their own Dhofari heritage. They are an incredibly wealthy people group, and not welcoming to outsiders. Pray that light will be welcome in their community and that Jesus will save Dhofari Arabs. 

Day 5: There have been a few locals who have professed faith in Christ, but have then lost contact. Pray this verse from Ephesians 6:16 over them: “In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Pray they will stand firm in the faith. 

Day 6: Pray for the workers in this region. Pray that they will be strengthened in the faith. Pray that they will be bold witnesses for the gospel of Jesus Christ as they work and live in this area. Pray for the church there to be a light in the community.
