Pray for the Church
Praise God for His faithfulness toward us and provision for our campus development project. Ask God to bless all the ministry on our campus and to multiply that ministry beyond our campus as we carry His gospel into our city and around the world. Pray for us all to grow in our faith and for each of us to embrace the role we have to play in bringing up emerging generations in the faith.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Jimmie Hale Mission. The purpose of Jimmie Hale Mission is to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of men, women, and children in our community through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their ministries include the Shepura Men’s Center (a homeless shelter for men), Jessie’s Place (a shelter for women and children), Royal Pines (a recovery center for men), recovery programs, learning centers, and thrift stores. We’re also praying this week for Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster and Pastor Kenneth Bruce.
Day 1: Pray for the Lord to heal our country of the pandemic and the incredible impact it has created in our society and for the homeless, especially for men and women staying at Jimmie Hale and Jessie’s Place.
Day 2: Pray for the roughly 150 clients Jimmie Hale Mission is currently serving. Pray they will achieve freedom from addiction, independence, and stability in their lives once again! Pray they will continue their walk with Jesus and come to know Him intimately as Lord and Savior.
Day 3: Pray for financial provision for Jimmie Hale Mission during this pandemic, as giving is down. Pray for donors to be gracious in their giving, and in return would be blessed by their faithfulness and generosity.
Day 4: Pray for the holiday season at Jimmie Hale Mission. Pray for the hundreds of people that will receive a hot Thanksgiving and Christmas meal at the mission, but also the elderly that will receive a meal through the Jimmie Hale Mission and Meals On Wheels partnership. Pray through these simple meals, the gospel will be shared and God’s glory made known.
Day 5: Pray for the Jimmie Hale Mission staff. Pray for the staff to be Christlike in all they say and do while reaching the most vulnerable in our society. Pray the staff doesn’t just talk about Christ, but for them to follow Him daily. Pray through the staff, each client will experience God’s love up close.
Day 6: Pray for God to receive 100% of the glory for any and all transformation that takes place at Jimmie Hale Mission.
Pray for the World
The Bairagi of India have a population of 3.4 million and are unengaged and unreached. Meaning there is no gospel presence among them and no one actively engaging them with the gospel. The Bairagi’s primary religion is Hinduism. To follow Christ is to risk disturbing community harmony within this Hindu community. Much sustained, focused prayer is needed to prepare the hearts of the Bairagi community to understand and receive the good news of Jesus. There are no known followers of Jesus among the Hindu Bairagi, but we pray that the Lord will soon call many to himself. Pray they will be zealous to learn of Christ, and that they will be sent teachers and pastors to help them.
Day 1: Pray for God to call out believers to go to the Bairagi of India and share the gospel.
Day 2: Pray for God to move in the hearts of Bairagi men and women and cause them to see their need for a savior.
Day 3: There are strategies being developed to engage the Bairagi. Pray for God to give wisdom to those leading those efforts and for open doors into the Bairagi community for the gospel to be shared.
Day 4: Ask God to save the Bairagi people.
Day 5: Pray for the Indian church to reach out to the Bairagi people. Pray for God to give them a vision to mobilize their people and resources for the sake of the Bairagi people.
