Pray for the Church
Praise God for opening our eyes to the truth and beauty of His gospel and leading us toward faith. Ask Him to prepare our friends and family, neighbors, coworkers and classmates to be open to hearing the good news. Pray for us to make the most of every opportunity to share with others how they too may be saved, even in difficult situations.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the ministry of WorkFaith Birmingham (WFB), a Christian nonprofit workforce and life development ministry empowering adults in transition who are facing employment barriers. WFB was started by Keith Stanley, our City Ministries Pastor, to provide an avenue to bring the Body of Christ alongside adults needing skill development to get a job and keep a job, and to develop Christian ethics to maintain work. This month, WorkFaith Birmingham celebrates almost ten years of ministry, 163 workshops, and 1300 graduates. We’re also praying this week for Hope Mountain Church and Pastor Deric Thomas.
Day 1: Pray for the clients, alumni, volunteers, and donors to trust in Christ for their salvation and connect to a local church where they can grow in Christ and experience biblical community.
Day 2: Pray for God to raise up an army of volunteers to join in helping adults move forward in life through work and faith by serving as mock interviewers, board members, web and social media supporters, and mentors.
Day 3: Pray for the new Magic City Pipeline career program designed to help WFB graduates find and embrace the right career path that provides sustainable wages for their families. Pray for employers to join the program, for career training opportunities, and for the finances to support this initiative.
Day 4: Pray for the WFB leadership and staff as they implement a strategy to multiply their mission to “Empower Lives Through Work and Faith” by equipping other ministries across Alabama with their curriculum.
Day 5: Pray for additional resources and partnerships to develop and grow in order to create a pipeline for job seekers to develop both hard skills for career advancement and the soft skills needed to maintain employment.
Day 6: Pray for WFB ministry partners: The Lovelady Center, The WellHouse, The Salvation Army Center of Hope, Community Care Development Network, Jefferson County Drug Court, and The Jefferson County Second Chance Hiring Fair. Pray that God would continue to provide all the resources needed for them and WFB to serve adults in transition.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for Laurelyn D. She is heading overseas as a Mid-Termer for two months in Central Asia. She will be serving with one of our current partners, helping with the children’s ministry in their local church, and engaging with students at a local English club.
Day 1: Pray for the Holy Spirit to give her the wisdom and boldness to intentionally weave the truths of the gospel throughout her conversations with each person with whom she comes into contact.
Day 2: Pray for Laurelyn to rest in knowing that salvation ultimately comes from and belongs to the Lord.
Day 3: Pray for the Lord to work radically within the city and that there would be a great Kingdom advancement among the people.
Day 4: Pray that each encounter she has with the team and with our partner will be full of joy, encouragement, selflessness, and love for one another.
Day 5: Laurelyn is a Type 1 diabetic. Pray for her to continue to manage that well and for her health to not be a distraction for her while she is serving.
Day 6: Pray for her to be bold to step into any situation that God puts in front of her. Pray that she would be willing to press in and not shy away from difficult conversations.
