Long-Term Mission
Why are we doing Long-Term Missions?
Our goal as a faith family is to pour ourselves out for the sake of the lost, the poor and the global church. At Brook Hills our approach is two-fold: strengthen the church in “reached” contexts (where there is at least some presence of the church) and establish the church in “unreached” contexts (where there is no existing church). Long-term sending of church planting teams to unreached people groups is the primary means to achieve the goal of establishing the church in “unreached” contexts. We want people to go plant their lives among the nations.
What is Long-term?
All of us have a clear command of making disciples of all nations. Long term is people commissioned out from Brook Hills as long-term disciple makers who have clarity that God is leading them to plant their lives and families among a specific people for a specific purpose. Biblically the church has a role in confirming a call and direction in people’s lives. As someone walks through the process of God’s calling to plant their lives among a people or specific country or place, the church has a role to help discern and confirm that call. After confirmation of calling, the church commissions and sends out those called and supports them as they go.
How do I start the process of going Long-Term?
After careful prayer, it begins with a conversation with the Global Disciple-Making Team. We will want to get to know you and find out what God is calling you to. We will talk through what that calling looks like and help discern what a call is and if God is leading you to plant your lives among the nations. An application and evaluation will take place to help determine any training necessary, what needs you might have and if a potential sending agency is required. Most importantly though one-on-one mentoring will take place as you prepare to go. As confirmation of your calling is evident, The Church at Brook Hills will commission you out and offer potential support.
