Pray for the Church
Praise God for His faithfulness toward us and provision in our lives. Thank Him for all He has done and continues to do for us. Pray for Him to develop a spirit of gratitude within each of us. Ask Him to develop us further into a giving people who freely share from all He has given to us.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for M-POWER Ministries, a faith-based social services agency in Birmingham that provides opportunities for people to break the cycle of poverty through education and health services. M-POWER accomplishes its mission through two distinct centers. The M-POWER Education Center provides adult literacy tutoring, GED programs, and career-readiness programs. The M-POWER Health Center provides acute care walk-in clinics, primary care clinics, and sub-specialty clinics for patients without access to health care. We are also praying this week for Shades Valley Community Church and Pastor Jonathan Haefs.
Day 1: Pray for every patient who walks through the doors of the M-POWER Health Center to sense God’s love and care for them as they are seen and treated by the medical staff. Pray for gospel conversations, and for hearts and bodies to be healed for God’s glory!
Day 2: Pray for the literacy students at the Education Center as they learn to read or work to improve their literacy. Pray that all students will realize that their self-worth and value comes from God and not from their literacy achievements.
Day 3: Many students participating in GED classes face daily obstacles such as lack of transportation, lack of childcare, or very little family support or encouragement. Pray for them as they strive to be consistent in attending class and diligent in their studies.
Day 4: Pray for the many volunteer instructors, tutors, and mentors who invest in the students’ lives. Pray that God will grant them wisdom to know the best way to teach, encourage, and support the students. Pray that God will call out more people to volunteer with M-POWER.
Day 5: Pray for awareness. Pray that more and more people trapped in poverty will come to know about the services and opportunities provided at M-Power.
Day 6: Pray for the M-POWER staff and volunteers to have Jesus’ heart for the people they serve. Pray that they will be faithful to share His love and truth with those God sends their way.
Pray for the World
Next week begins our month-long celebration of all God has accomplished through the Global Offering. The Global Offering is an opportunity for us as a church to give above what we normally give so we can wholeheartedly engage the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. To send and sustain Brook Hills teams and missionaries and participate with partners working among peoples and places around the world without access to the gospel, we must continue to give above our budgeting requirements. The Global Offering reflects the spirit of the gospel as we sacrificially give to meet earthly and eternal needs.
We hope that you as an individual or a family will prayerfully consider how God may be inviting you to join Him in the story He’s writing here at Brook Hills among the nations. As we end the year of 2020, we are believing that God has a specific way He wants to use you in the story he is writing in the world through The Church at Brook Hills. Join us this week as we thank God for the opportunity to contribute to the Global Offering and pray we continue to participate in the work he is doing among all nations. Day 1: Thank God for the way he has used our faith family this year to participate in the advancement of the gospel to all nations. Thank him for blessing us to be a blessing to those who have never heard of Christ.
Day 2: Praise God for mobilizing so many of our members to be on mission. Praise God for the opportunities to share the gospel with people who have never heard. Praise God for saving many who heard of Christ.
Day 3: There are still over 2 billion people in the world that have little to no access to the gospel. Pray for our church to be obedient to give to the Global Offering so we can participate in the urgency of this eternal need.
Day 4: This year the Global Offering was used to support and sustain 24 Long-Term missionaries who are currently on the field. Pray for our missionaries as they work in difficult places. Pray for God to call more members from our faith family to go.
Day 5: Ask the Father to show you how you can sacrificially participate in the Global Offering this year. Consider how you can use your resources to participate in the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Day 6: Ask the Lord to bless the Global Offering. Pray that our faith family would give with glad hearts and for the Lord to be pleased as we glorify and honor him through our giving.
