Pray for the Church
Praise God for being our rock and our redeemer. Pray for Him to help us all stay steadfast in our worship of Him and to walk in the light of His Word. Ask Him to guide and direct us through His Word and for it to serve as a lamp to our feet and light to our path. Pray for God to receive great glory through everything we do to abide in Him, follow after Him, and strive to obey Him.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for NorthStar Soccer Ministries (northstarsoccerministries.org), a Christ-centered non-profit soccer organization that seeks to introduce the value of sports at inner city schools, while mentoring students and sharing the gospel. We are also praying for New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Thomas Beavers.
DAY 1: Pray for spiritually motivated volunteers for NorthStar who want to share the gospel and be a mentor for an at-risk student. Pray for fruitful gospel and discipleship conversations while they teach and coach students.
DAY 2: Pray for NorthStar programs not only to benefit individual youth, but to also serve as a beacon and rallying point for families. Pray for NorthStar to be one among many positive strands that do good and build the community while pointing to Christ.
DAY 3: Pray against negative community influences which can lure youth away from positive opportunities. Pray against gangs, substance abuse, and crime. Pray for the flourishing of other positive opportunities such as arts programs, academic enrichment opportunities, scouting/adventure programs, and supportive church youth groups.
DAY 4: Pray specifically for NorthStar’s involvement at Oliver Elementary School. The program is new to Oliver this year and the kids are excited. Pray many families at Oliver will come to know the love of Christ and find joy in community through soccer. Pray tNorthStar will be seen as a positive addition both to the school programming and to the community of Gate City.
DAY 5: Pray for financial provision for NorthStar Soccer. Pray that many would see the positive influence sports can have on a child’s life and make an investment in them. Pray for new van donations. Transportation is always an issue for NorthStar families.
DAY 6: Pray for Paul Neville, NorthStar Soccer Ministries Executive Director. Ask the Lord to give him wisdom and clarity as he seeks to continue to expand NorthStar into other schools. Pray for the Board of Directors and staff as they seek to model Christ to the families they touch in all they do.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for our upcoming 2024/2025 Short Term trips.
DAY 1: Pray for God to be glorified in the planning, the sending, and the going of our short-term teams. Pray for our partners on the field who will be hosting these teams. Pray for their ministry as they prepare things on the ground for our teams.
DAY 2: Pray for ministry opportunities for our teams while they are on the field. Pray for the hearts of unbelievers, for them to be softened to the gospel. Ask God to lead team members to those He has already prepared to hear His word.
DAY 3: Pray for leaders for our short-term teams. Ask God to raise them up for the teams still needing a leader, and prepare them to shepherd their teams wisely. Pray they will lead with humility and wisdom.
DAY 4: Pray for God to call the people who will be going this Fall on these trips. Pray for them to step out in faith, fully trusting in God to provide everything they need in order to go and serve - the time, the resources, the finances.
DAY 5: Pray for the logistics of these trips. Pray for plans to be made, support to be raised, and for us to approach unforeseen circumstances with Christ-like hearts.
DAY 6: Pray our short-term teams will be beneficial for the ministries happening in these countries. Pray they would expand their work towards the Great Commission. Pray teams will be a blessing for those on the ground.
