Pray for the Church
Pray for our upcoming Trunk or Treat outreach this Saturday, October 30. Ask God to bring many from our community to join us on our campus and to empower us to shine brightly as lights for His gospel during what can be a dark season. Pray for opportunities for many gospel conversations. Ask God to use this event to help us graciously welcome new people and families into our church.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Jimmie Hale Mission, a Christian ministry that includes the Shepura Men’s Center (homeless shelter for men), Jessie’s Place (a shelter for women and children), Royal Pines (a recovery center for men), recovery programs, learning centers, and thrift stores. The purpose of Jimmie Hale Mission is to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of men, women, and children in our community through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’re also praying for Covenant Presbyterian Church and Pastor Robby Holt.
Day 1: Jimmie Hale Mission has transformed to be a four-month intensive recovery program. They are no longer considered “a hot and a cot.” If an individual does not want to change their circumstances, they are not allowed to stay. Please pray for the continuing transformation at Jimmie Hale Mission, the transformation of the individuals in the program, and for those who are not ready for change.
Day 2: Pray for Michael Coleman, Executive Director of JHM. Pray for him to lead the organization with vision and integrity. Pray for strength and wisdom for him to fight through the barriers that attempt to prevent JHM from helping clients to change their lives.
Day 3: Pray for financial provision for Jimmie Hale Mission. Pray for their new capital campaign called "Lasting Transformation,” where they hope to raise 10 million dollars to purchase graduate living spaces (transitional housing). These spaces will allow their graduates to acclimate slowly and successfully back into society.
Day 4: Pray for the Jimmie Hale Mission clients. Pray specifically for the Lord’s guidance and graciousness as they unpack the many traumas in their lives. Pray for JHM to be a place where they see the love of Christ throughout their healing process.
Day 5: Pray for the Jimmie Hale Mission staff. Pray specifically for the hearts of the staff who do not yet look at their work at JHM as an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the most broken in our society. Pray for them to see it as more than a job. Pray for the staff that does see how the Lord has called them to this ministry. Pray for strength and vision as they seek to love their neighbors well.
Day 6: Pray for the holiday season at Jimmie Hale Mission. The fourth quarter of the year is where over half of their fundraising takes place, making it a critical time in the life of the organization. Pray for the JHM board and staff to continue to trust God for His provision and direction.
Pray for the World
This week we continue to pray for the Desert City Initiative, specifically that the Father would mobilize more churches and believers all over the world to engage in prayer and participation in the Desert City.
Day 1: Pray for God to raise up thousands of churches all over the world to pray for the Desert City, to care about the lostness in the city, and to send faithful workers to join His work there.
Day 2: Pray for God to lead the believers in international churches in the city to grow in boldness in their witness of the gospel to all peoples living there.
Day 3: Pray for God to add to the numbers of the churches in the Desert City, including all those He is saving as He works in and through His people in that city.
Day 4: Pray for believers in partner churches to be burdened for the lost who live and work in the Desert City.
Day 5: Pray for God to provide opportunities for many Brook Hills members and believers in other partner churches to live and work in the Desert City.
Day 6: Pray for partner churches to commit their time and resources to prioritize the proclamation of the gospel and disciple-making among the lost, and to see local churches strengthened in the area.
