Praise God for the students in our church as well as the educators we have dedicated to helping them learn. Pray for our students to know, grow, and trust in Christ this year. Pray for our students to be bold in displaying and declaring the gospel to others. Pray for teachers, home school parents, professors, and administrators to have wisdom, skill, sensitivity, patience, and endurance as they help students learn and grow. Ask God to graciously guide all those in school environments through this difficult season we all currently face.
This week we are praying for Discovery Clubs of Alabama, a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship. Discovery Clubs are weekly after school Bible clubs that meet in dozens of public elementary schools across the greater Birmingham area, offering fun and inspirational activities to help children know about the love of Christ. Discovery Clubs teach the gospel to children while also building biblical foundations for life, developing character, and changing families. We’re also praying this week for Westwood Baptist Church and Pastor Kenneth Bruce.
Day 1: Pray for the Birmingham schools that are allowing Discovery Clubs to meet on their campuses again. Prior to the pandemic, they met in 32 schools. Currently, they are only returning to 13 schools and one community center. Pray that the schools in which they are meeting are richly blessed by the presence of Discovery Clubs. Pray that many more schools will be open to having volunteers in the building soon.
Day 2: Pray for financial provision for Discovery Clubs as they are no longer a subsidiary of Jimmie Hale Mission. Pray that as they begin to forge new funding opportunities under Child Evangelism Fellowship, the Lord would bless their efforts. Pray for blessings on all who have and will donate to help Discovery Clubs share the love of Christ with children across the city.
Day 3: Pray for the school supervisors that oversee the club meetings at each school. Pray for the love of Christ to shine through them and for God to give them wisdom as they walk through hard places with their students and volunteers.
Day 4: Pray for new volunteers and mentors at Discovery Clubs. Pray for their protection and that the pandemic would not continue to pull people away from doing the work of Christ, but would instead inspire them to do more.
Day 5: Pray for the current church partners that are supporting Discovery Clubs financially, through prayer, and with much needed volunteers. Pray that the Lord would bless them for their generosity. Pray that many other churches would join in partnership with Discovery Clubs.
Day 6: Pray for the students that will be reached by Discovery Clubs this upcoming school year. Pray for the salvation of each student. Pray also for safety and peace for the students as well as their families. Pray that as they attend the meetings, they will know that Jesus loves them deeply and that the volunteers do too!
This week we are praying for the people of Haiti. On August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti killing many people, leaving many more injured and homeless, and turning thousands of structures into rubble. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, and its people have faced significant suffering politically, economically, and through natural disasters. Through the Global Offering and with our Crisis Relief partners at Samaritan’s Purse, we can participate in meeting urgent spiritual and physical needs of the Haitian people. Join us this week as we pray for the people of Haiti as they continue to recover from this devastating earthquake.
Day 1: Haiti is the poorest country in our hemisphere and was devastated by a massive earthquake in 2010, a powerful hurricane in 2016, a presidential assassination a few months ago, and now a powerful earthquake. The Haitian people have suffered greatly. Pray for God to have mercy on the people of Haiti.
Day 2: The August 14th earthquake killed over 2,000 people and injured over 12,000. Approximately 53,000 homes have been destroyed and left in rubble. Pray for God to give Haitians the strength to persevere in the rebuilding of their lives. Pray for God to provide for their needs.
Day 3: Praise God for partners like Samaritan’s Purse who are on the ground and working to aid the local church in relief. Pray for the men and women who are serving in Haiti. Pray for God to give wisdom on how best to help the residents affected by the earthquake.
Day 4: Pray for God to strengthen the local church, believers, and leaders who are in Haiti. Pray for God to make Himself known through the events they have experienced. Pray for believers to be bold and faithful in this time of recovery.
Day 5: There is still much work to be done in Haiti. Pray for the necessary supplies to continue to be available. Pray for Samaritan’s Purse as they establish clean water stations, shelter material, and a field hospital equipped with medical teams to serve trauma patients. Pray for God to give the workers capacity to provide the immediate relief needed in these coming weeks.
Day 6: Pray for God to glorify Himself through this event. Pray for Haitians to see that God is more powerful than any earthquake, and even death. Pray for God’s glory to be made known.
