Pray for the Church
Praise God for His gracious protection and just judgement. Ask God to convict us of any sin in our lives. Pray for His righteous condemnation of injustice in our world. Ask Him to use us as agents of justice and compassion in His name.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Lifeline Children’s Services, a Christ-centered holistic orphan care ministry in Birmingham, Alabama. Lifeline serves families by supporting them in adoption, foster care, education, counseling, and international orphan care so that the fatherless can experience and hear the good news of the gospel. We’re also praying this week for The Church at Liberty Park and Pastor Randy Overstreet.
Day 1: Pray for new expansion opportunities for Lifeline. The Lord is opening doors for them to open offices in new states, which will give them the ability to minister to more women in crisis pregnancies across the country.
Day 2: Pray for new churches to engage in family restoration ministry. Pray for Lifeline’s family court training events to go well, and for the homes involved with this ministry to be a safe place for both the children and the birth parents.
Day 3: Pray for the T.I.P.S. classes beginning all over the city this month. Pray specifically for the class being held at Brook Hills that began September 15. Pray for all the families taking part in the classes as they begin the journey of foster care.
Day 4: Pray for the international adoptions placed through Lifeline. Pray that the number of applications would increase as new families answer the call to adopt.
Day 5: Pray for Lifeline’s church partnerships. Pray that they would multiply and flourish as churches care for vulnerable children. Pray specifically for Orphan Sunday partnership opportunities. Pray for many children to come to faith in Christ as believers take James 1:27 to heart.
Day 6: Pray for Lifeline’s Global Orphan Care Network. Pray that they are successful in engaging potential new partners in countries around the globe.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the short-term trips to the Desert City that Brook Hills will begin sending out next month. We are excited to be able to support the Desert City Initiative by sending small teams of our faith family to engage the millions of people from all over the world who will pass through the Desert City this year for a special world event. For more information on these teams, or if you would like to join a team, visit brookhills.org/shortterm.
Day 1: Praise God for allowing Brook Hills the opportunity to send short-term teams this year to strategically support the Desert City Initiative. We are thankful to God for opening this window to go and support the long-term, disciple-making work of the believers in this city.
Day 2: Millions of people will pass through the Desert City this year for a world event that is being held there. Pray for God to prepare the hearts and minds of men and women who will encounter our teams to be seeking Christ. Pray that He would prepare many opportunities for our teams to meet people who are open to the gospel.
Day 3: Pray for members of these teams as they prepare for their time in the Desert City. Pray for God to give them the appropriate wisdom and knowledge they need to be effective witnesses to those they will meet there.
Day 4: There are many details that must come together for each team this year, and many opportunities for flexibility as the world continues to shift in this season. Pray for God to help us as a church to submit our plans to His will, and be openhanded as He prepares the way.
Day 5: Pray for God to move in the hearts of men and women at Brook Hills to join one of the short-term teams this year. Pray for many to go and see the Desert City, and perhaps see the opportunities that exist to live and work there.
Day 6: Pray for God to be glorified as we send teams this year to engage the Desert City. Pray that many would hear of Christ through the faithful proclamation of the gospel, and for God to use this moment to spread the good news to other countries that will be in the city at the same time as our teams.
