Pray for the Church
Praise God for His ongoing guidance in our lives as He leads us on mission with Him. Thank God for those He put in your life who shared the gospel with you and called you to respond in repentance and faith. Pray for us to be responsive to any opportunity with which we are presented to tell the story of the gospel. Ask God to lead us to people both near and far whom He has prepared to listen to and receive the message of the gospel. Pray for God to continue to transform us as a faith family so that we are better equipped and positioned to make disciples of all nations. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower us to relate to other Christ-followers and to unite us together as God’s people.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Birmingham Urban Young Life. The mission of UrbanYoung Life is to introduce adolescents in inner city Birmingham to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. The staff and volunteers of Urban Young Life enter the world of kids, focusing on what matters to them – fun, adventure, friendship, and a sense of significance. In doing so, they earn the privilege of talking to them about what matters most of all – the truth about God and His love for them. We are also praying for Household of Faith Church and Pastor Larry Cockrell.
DAY 1: Pray for the message of the gospel to be seen and heard clearly by every teenager encountered by a Young Life staff member or leader in Woodlawn High School and Restoration Academy.
DAY 2: Pray for God to pour out the Spirit of adoption on the middle and high school students in Birmingham City, for salvation to come into the lives of teenagers and spread to their families and communities (Romans 8:14-15).
DAY 3: Pray for the current leaders to be filled to the overflow with the love of Jesus so they can continue making an impact on teenagers’ lives. Pray for the four college student leaders and four career leaders: Anthony, Micah, Caleb, Makayla, Kathryn, Erin, Katie, and Sedrick.
DAY 4: Pray for God to provide all of the finances necessary for Urban Young Life, including the scholarships for every urban student to participate in summer camp where they will be invited to follow Jesus Christ.
DAY 5: Pray for more laborers and for more leaders with a passion for Jesus and reaching lost teenagers. As more leaders are recruited and trained for the mission, Urban Young Life can reach more schools. Pray for the four leaders in training, that the Lord will make it clear to these leaders and to the staff if He is calling them into this mission field.
Day 6: Pray for Woodlawn High School and Restoration Academy students. Urban Young Life aims to help meet physical and academic needs for students as they introduce them to Christ.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Mid-Termer, Summer W. serving in East Asia. Summer joined our East Asia Church Planting team at the beginning of 2016. She is currently studying language at a local university and spending the majority of her time meeting new friends and sharing the gospel. Join us this week as we pray for Summer and the East Asia Church Planting Team.
DAY 1: Summer is studying language at a local university. It has been a challenge to learn. Pray for Summer to prioritize her time and diligently study this difficult language. Pray for the Lord to help her hear and acquire the language needed to make her proficient.
DAY 2: Summer has been sharing Christ with a good friend of hers. Praise God that this friend repented and believed last week. Thank God for saving our new sister in Christ.
DAY 3: Pray for Summer as she begins to disciple this new sister. Pray for Summer to be dependent on Christ to speak through her. Pray for God to give Summer wisdom to guide her friend in the Word. Pray especially for Summer as she shows the joy of obedience in baptism.
DAY 4: God has been so faithful to our East Asia Church Planting Team. Pray for continued unity and joy as they serve together. Pray for Summer to be a light on the team and to serve her teammates well.
DAY 5: Pray for more opportunities for Summer to make friends and share the gospel. Pray for more men and women to come to faith in Christ as a result of Summer’s obedience to boldly share the good news.
DAY 6: Summer is very busy and has many things that fill her day. Pray for Summer to prioritize her days to maximize her effectiveness in the short time she has in East Asia. Pray for God to show her how to do this and to be glorified during her time there.

It is Well With My Soul

When peace like a river
Attendeth my way

Whatever my lot
Thou hast taught me to say
It is well
It is well with my soul

It is well with my soul
It is well
It is well with my soul
Verse 2
Tho' Satan should buffet
Tho' trials should come
Let this blest assurance control

My helpless estate
And hath shed His own blood
For my soul

Of this glorious tho't
My sin not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross
And I bear it no more

And Lord haste the day
When the faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
The trump shall resound
And the Lord shall descend
Even so it is well
With my soul
