Pray for the Church
Praise God for His order, authority, and creativity exhibited in creation. Thank Him for the life and beauty with which He’s filled the earth. Ask God to grow our trust in Him. Pray for us all to listen to His Word and respond in obedience.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for our Brook Hills ESL (English As a Second Language) Ministry as they begin in-person classes again on February 3. The ESL Ministry serves over 75 English learners by providing free English classes to international men and women on Thursday mornings and evenings on our campus. The ESL Ministry aims to extend hospitality, establish community, and share the love and story of Jesus with internationals living in Birmingham. We’re also praying for the Brook Hills Hispanic Congregation and Pastor Abner Aguilar.
Day 1: Pray for our volunteers and for the international adults, representing 17 countries, who have been a part of ESL this fall as they return to in-person classes after moving classes online for the month of January. Pray for the students to be motivated to return, for them to understand the gospel, and for them and our volunteers to remain healthy.
Day 2: Pray for the 34 kids who participated this fall in our ESL Children’s Program while their parents were in classes. Pray for them to be eager to learn new truths about God each week from their Bible-centered lessons.
Day 3: Pray for the faithfulness of our volunteers in every area of this ministry to cultivate a safe, hospitable, and loving environment for the students and their children. Pray for our volunteers to be a source of encouragement for our students, not just in the classroom, but in all the areas our students must navigate life in a cultural context different from their own.
Day 4: Pray for those who have come to know Christ through the ESL Ministry to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, grow in their faith, gather with a local church, and make disciples.
Day 5: Pray for the ESL Women’s Bible Study. Pray for these students, from a variety of spiritual backgrounds, to receive the Word of God and be transformed by it.
Day 6: Pray for the ESL Easter Celebration on April 14. Pray for God to prepare hearts to receive and understand the gospel. Pray for both students and volunteers to be refreshed as they are reminded of the goodness of God in Christ’s finished work on the cross.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Long-Termers, Taylor and Julia, along with their daughters Hali and Lucia, who are in transition from East Asia to serve among the least-reached peoples in the Middle East.
Day 1: Praise God for sustaining their family during this transition season, not only from one place of service to another but also from a family of three to a family of four as they brought home their second adopted daughter, Lucia, last year.
Day 2: Taylor and Julia will be attending some training events in the next few weeks. Please pray for their equipping, for humility to learn, and for perseverance in this season of preparation.
Day 3: Pray for their move to the Middle East. Pray for God to provide the right house with neighbors who are open to hearing the gospel, and for those neighbors to be drawn to Christ.
Day 4: Pray for Hali and Lucia as they navigate this transition together and for them to be able to find the right resources for their medical and educational needs. Through this process of finding what Hali and Lucia need, pray for Julia to be able to connect with other teachers and families in the blind community in the Middle East, and for God to open doors for ministry.
Day 5: Pray for this family to be a blessing to their new church community in the Middle East as they build relationships and use their gifts for Christ’s glory among them.
Day 6: Pray for Taylor and Julia to be a refreshment to the team on the ground and to be bold to proclaim the gospel among unbelievers in this massive city.
