Pray for the Church
Praise God for the good design of marriage. Pray for husbands and wives in our faith family to strive together to honor God in their marriages. Pray for God's care and comfort for those struggling in their marriages. Ask God to give healing to those who have experienced the pain that leads to and comes from divorce.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brook Hills International Care Team. This team exists to meet immediate physical and civil needs of internationals in Birmingham with the hope that we would have the opportunity to meet spiritual needs as well. Currently, this team primarily serves sojourners by providing transportation to and from our ESL classes on Thursday mornings and evenings. These opportunities allow relationships to develop and deepen, providing an avenue to demonstrate the love of Christ and share the gospel with our international friends. We are also praying for Leeds Valley Community Church and Pastor Nate Farrow.
Day 1: Pray for the people God sends our way from unreached contexts. Ask God to open their hearts to the life-changing truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Day 2: Pray for more members of our faith family to engage with the International Care Team this fall. Pray for more drivers who can provide transportation on Thursday mornings and evenings. Pray for our faith family to fill in the volunteer gaps with creativity and excitement.
Day 3: Ask God to develop, cultivate, and deepen relationships between our faith family and sojourners in Birmingham. Ask Him to orchestrate clarity in conversations and help internationals understand the Gospel when language barriers can make it more difficult.
Day 4: Pray for internationals connected to our International Care Team to place their faith in Jesus Christ this year. Pray our faith family would share the good news with endurance and patience, trusting in God’s sovereignty and His desire for the nations to praise Him.
Day 5: Praise God for the ways the International Care Team loves internationals well. Ask Him to continue to demonstrate Christ through their love and hospitality. Ask God to clothe the team with perseverance as they weekly give their time and means to love sojourners and proclaim the good news of Jesus.
Day 6: Ask God to draw many people from many nations to Himself through the collective work of our faith family through the International Care Team. Ask Him to receive the praise and glory He is worthy of from people coming from hard-to-reach places.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our long-termers, Caleb and Beth, serving in Southeast Asia. Most of the population where they live is Muslim. Seventy percent of the population is still unreached or completely unengaged with the gospel.
Day 1: Pray for the local fellowships to grow in discipleship and gospel outreach to the people in their city, especially immigrants who are coming to their community. Ask God to give them compassion and boldness for sharing the gospel with others. Ask God to remove barriers to sharing the good news.
Day 2: Pray for Beth as she seeks to develop friendships with local women. Ask God to lead her to women of peace who would be interested in spiritual conversations. Pray for the women she is currently discipling to grow in their knowledge of and faith in the Lord. Ask God to help them share the hope they have in Christ with their families and others.
Day 3: Pray for Caleb in his field of work, and ask the Lord to bless and grow his business. Pray he would have opportunities to develop business relationships and share the gospel with his clients.
Day 4: Pray for Caleb as he mobilizes his staff to meet the physical and spiritual needs of their clients. Ask God to give them opportunities to share the love of Christ. Pray for hearts to be open among those they are sharing the gospel with.
Day 5: Pray for Caleb and Beth to grow in their love for Christ and for one another. Ask God to deepen their trust in Christ in every season. Pray they would parent their girls with love, patience, and joy and demonstrate the love of Christ to their children. Pray for their children to come to saving faith in Christ.
Day 6: Pray for Caleb’s physical health as he battles kidney disease. Ask God to heal his body, whether through treatment options or supernaturally. Ask God to sustain his health, and pray Caleb will trust in God’s future grace for his physical needs.
