Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of our faith family here at Brook Hills. Ask Him to help us all care for one another well. Pray for us to daily live out the "one anothers" of Scripture throughout our church body.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Iglesia la Conexión, our Hispanic congregation, who worships weekly in Spanish. Iglesia la Conexión meets in Hoover and ministers to one another, to our city, and to the nations. They regularly welcome visitors and new members into their congregation, meet physical needs of their community, and serve refugees and immigrants as they settle in Birmingham. The gospel continues to be proclaimed clearly to the nations in our city through the ministry of Iglesia la Conexión.
Day 1: Pray for Iglesia la Conexión’s congregation. Praise God for the work He continues to do in and through His gathered people. Praise God for the four believers who were recently baptized in their worship gathering. Ask God to continue to uplift, refresh, and deepen their faith.
Day 2: Pray for Abner Aguilar, Iglesia la Conexión’s pastor, and other ministry leaders. Ask God to continue to empower them by the Holy Spirit, and give them wisdom to oversee their many avenues of ministry, as well as endurance and compassion to shepherd their congregation. Pray for Abner and his family as they begin to prepare to move to Morocco.
Day 3: Pray for Iglesia la Conexión’s upcoming leadership transition. Ask God to bring the right leader for this next season of ministry. Ask God to give the Transition Leadership Team discernment and clarity as they prepare for upcoming changes.
Day 4: Pray for Iglesia la Conexión’s impact in Hoover and across Birmingham. Ask God to give them vision and wisdom in outreach initiatives. Ask God to give them favor in connecting deeply with Spanish-speaking individuals and families.
Day 5: Ask God to continue to add members to Iglesia la Conexión. Pray the congregation would disciple one another well and continue to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Day 6: Pray for members of Iglesia la Conexión to put their trust and hope in God for protection and guidance during this time of uncertainty for many immigrants. Pray they would continue to set their eyes daily on their mission to glorify God by making disciples of every language, tribe, and nation.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for “R” and “B” who are serving in the Middle East in an effort to reach the Baloch people. The Baloch are an ethnic group who speak the Western Iranian Balochi language and are native to the Balochistan region of South and West Asia, occupying parts of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. There are also Baloch diaspora communities in neighboring regions, including in Central Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. They are predominantly Muslim and unreached with the gospel.
Day 1: Pray for a new access strategy for “R” and “B” in their country: a nonprofit inner-city English tutoring center for urban youth. Ask God to remove all obstacles and give them favor with the government so they can create new access to Baloch families in their city. Ask God to continue to give “R” and “B” wisdom and discernment in their leadership as they navigate changes in their sending organization, which may mean location changes for some of their team members.
Day 2: Pray for “R” and “B” as they refresh their language skills. Ask the Lord to open new doors for their language to grow and be maintained. Ask God to make a way in the coming years for their teams to have a presence in the homeland of the Baloch. They are begging God to open doors and to prepare and send the right people into those opportunities!
Day 3: Pray for the ongoing project Brook Hills has begun with women in an extremely impoverished area of Balochistan. Pray for the project to be able to continue and for it to provide ample opportunities for the gospel message to be made known among the women.
Day 4: Pray for the two Baloch believers meeting regularly in another country, and ask God to sustain their faith and endurance through hardship and persecution. Pray their families believe the gospel, they have courage to continue sharing, and a church would be planted among them.
Day 5: Ask God to bless the church they helped plant in their city and make it a beacon of healthy gospel teaching and proclamation in the region. Pray for our elders and ask God to give them grace to lead and shepherd. Ask the Lord to call people to faith and fellowship with us through our ministry.
Day 6: Pray for “R” and “B’s” marriage. Ask God to help them continue to prioritize and pursue a strong, healthy relationship with one another, no matter the stress and concerns that assault them in their context, and for Him to be glorified as they pursue it. Pray for their kids. Ask God to help them believe the gospel and treasure Jesus with all their hearts, and bless them with rich friendships, joy in His Word and in the Church, and humility to always pursue growth.
