Pray for the Church
Praise God for the freedom we have in Christ and the freedom we enjoy in our nation. Ask Him to help us all live as good citizens in light of our ultimate citizenship being in Heaven with Him. Pray for us all to use our freedom to boldly share the gospel and grow God's Kingdom.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Mission Increase (missionincrease.org), a Christian foundation supporting nonprofits, donors, and churches in Central and North Alabama. Through coaching, consulting, and equipping events, Mission Increase ensures 190 ministries and organizations have access to information, training, and tools in their communities to maximize their collective Kingdom impact. Their utmost desire is to see more lives transformed for Jesus through faithful stewardship and collaboration in the Church. We are also praying for Shades Mountain Community Church and Pastor Spencer DeBurgh.
Day 1: Pray for the ministries Mission Increase coaches. Ask God to grow the leaders in wisdom, governance, and gospel impact. Pray specifically for nonprofit leaders you may know by name to be filled and empowered with the Holy Spirit.
Day 2: Pray for the new relationships Mission Increase has established with donors and churches this past year. Ask God to give leaders wisdom as they seek to multiply their Kingdom giving. Ask God to deepen unity in these relationships as they collaborate to serve our community.
Day 3: Pray for the upcoming Becoming Whole Conference in October. Ask God to use this conference to equip church members, ministry leaders, and marketplace leaders to further engage together in God’s design for holistic community transformation. Ask God to establish new relationships between ministries, churches, and donors seeking to work together to pursue shalom in Birmingham.
Day 4: Pray for the Mobilizing Pastors group Mission Increase hosts that draws together church leaders from across the region. Ask God to clothe this group with unity, fruitful conversation, and lasting partnerships that multiply Kingdom impact.
Day 5: Pray for Mission Increase’s global partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators as they train leaders around the world in 2027. Pray their training would bear lasting fruit in the hands of ministry leaders serving language communities globally.
Day 6: Pray for Kevin Moore, central Alabama’s area director, and his team as they continue to faithfully equip nonprofits. Ask God to give them perseverance and joy as they mobilize local churches to engage more deeply in their communities.
Pray for the World
On June 24, Venezuela suffered two catastrophic earthquakes that happened within seconds of each other. This week we will be praying for the country and relief efforts.
Day 1: Hoping against hope, search and rescue efforts are still underway. Pray for the strength of aid workers and for any remaining survivors to be able to endure and be found. Ongoing aftershocks have stifled some initial search efforts so pray for courage for the workers as they continue to labor.
Day 2: Pray for the wisdom and strength of aid organizations like Send Relief and Samaritan’s Purse. Send Relief has a long-standing partnership with the National Baptist Convention of Venezuela, strengthening local churches as they bring help and hope to their communities. Multiple hospitals were rendered ineffective so Samaritan’s Purse has established an Emergency Field Hospital. Both organizations are taking donations for these efforts on their websites (samaritanspurse.org and sendrelief.org). Brook Hills, you’re already playing a part through Global Offering as $10,000 will be donated to Samaritan’s Purse for their efforts.
Day 3: Pray for the grieving families who have lost loved ones. Pray for Christ to be proclaimed and believed upon as the only true source of hope.
Day 4: Pray for the areas around La Guaira and Caracas as they were most affected. Pray for local churches in these areas to be places of refuge and for their strength to serve their communities.
Day 5: Pray for the fear and unsettledness to point people to Christ and for them to find meaningful connections with local churches as a result of this. Many families are living on the streets due to fear so please pray for their safety and stability during this time.
Day 6: The road to recovery for Venezuela will be long, so pray for wisdom for the country’s leaders as they navigate the current crisis.
