Pray for the Church
Praise God for sending His Son, the Messiah, Jesus Christ to us. Pray for us all to live in light of His Lordship. Pray for those who do not yet know Him to come to know Him. Ask God to use us to be His bold witnesses to all those we encounter.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brook Hills’ Love Oliver initiative (brookhills.org/loveoliver). For the past 14 years, we have had the ongoing opportunity to partner with Oliver Elementary School in Gate City through educational support, community engagement, and Bible clubs. Together with the school’s administration, families in the community, and local partners, we long to see families flourish through discovery, discipleship, development, and the hope found in Jesus Christ alone. We are also praying for Grace Fellowship Church and Pastor Joel Busby.
Day 1: Pray for the scholars of Oliver Elementary School. Ask God to raise up young disciples who would love and seek Him in all things. Pray they would be marked by love in their interactions with their peers, their teachers, and at home with their families. Pray they would grow up to be community leaders who follow Jesus Christ.
Day 2: Pray for the Oliver families facing economic, academic, and spiritual barriers. Ask God to continue to equip the community to address these hurdles. Ask God to continue to open the eyes and hearts of children, adolescents, and adults to experience the redemptive work of Jesus Christ through faith.
Day 3: Pray for the educators and administrators at Oliver Elementary School. Praise God for their devotion to raising up Gate City’s next generation. Ask God to refresh their spirits and give them rest this summer. Ask God to continue to give wisdom and vision to Tamara Burney, Oliver’s principal, and her leadership team.
Day 4: Praise God for the Ready Day One Sneaker Ball event that took place in May. Praise God for the 79 scholars who registered for school. Praise God for the many parents and guardians who were present and play a key role in their child’s education. Ask God to continue to open doors for scholars to register for the upcoming academic year.
Day 5: Praise God for His abundant provision through our Love Oliver 2026 campaign. Ask God to give our staff and the school administration wisdom in using the funds. Ask God to bless and encourage teachers, scholars, guardians, and community members through the band instruments, classroom supplies, and upcoming campus projects and community events.
Day 6: Pray for our Faith Family, local churches, and community partners to continue to unite in investing time, care, and resources in our Oliver neighbors and to be faithful in prayer for them. Praise God for the opportunities this past year to deepen relationships. Ask God to give ongoing opportunities to cultivate new relationships in the coming year.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Maggie, one of our mid-termers serving in the Middle East.
Day 1: Pray for Maggie as she strategically tries to engage with Muslim women, particularly in this season while this area of the world is in conflict. Ask God to give her opportunities to engage in spiritual conversations where she can share the hope she has in Christ.
Day 2: Ask God to continue to bless Maggie’s efforts in learning the local language. Pray she would be diligent in her studies and grow in language learning even in the midst of disruptions and day-to-day challenges. Pray she would be bold to use the local language and engage people in it as she grows in her knowledge.
Day 3: Ask God to work in the friendships Maggie has established with other women in her city. Ask the Spirit to soften their hearts, to give Maggie the opportunity to share the Good News, and for gospel seeds to be planted and take root.
Day 4: Pray for Maggie and the local fellowship where she is a member. Ask God to sustain them during this season, give them unity, and help them love each other well. Ask God to draw others to their fellowship by the way they show love to one another.
Day 5: Ask God to grow Maggie in her walk with Christ. Pray she would abide in the Lord by spending time in His Word and in prayer, and He would guard and keep her as she lives and works in her current context. Pray she would be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication she would make her requests known to God, and the peace that passes all understanding would guard her heart and mind.
Day 6: Pray for the people in her city who have left Islam and have new life. Ask God to give believers boldness to share the Good News, particularly during this season, so many would come to faith.
