Praise God for His goodness and for all of the many things He does well for us. Ask Him to give us eyes to see His work all around us. Pray for us to be relentlessly bold in our witness to the world of who Christ is and what He has done for us.

This week we are praying for Brook Hills’ Prison Ministry (brookhills.org/prisonministry). We partner with ministries engaging with those currently behind bars and those re-entering their communities. Prison Fellowship and Hope for Life come alongside prisoners, proclaiming the hope of Jesus through relationships, advocacy, events, programming, and family support. Many of our Recovery Ministries partners like WorkFaith Birmingham, The Lovelady Center, and Seeds of Impact also support and equip those re-entering their communities. We are also praying for Church of the Highlands and Pastor Mark Pettus.

Day 1: Pray for incarcerated people across the state of Alabama. Ask God to reveal Himself to those serving time behind bars. Pray for many men and women to submit their lives to Christ and seek to live lives transformed by the gospel.

Day 2: Pray for families affected by incarceration. Pray they would know that God loves them unconditionally. Ask God to draw near to them through the local church, comforting and encouraging them each day. Ask God to give their families perseverance as they advocate for their loved one.

Day 3: Pray for Prison Fellowship and Hope for Life programming and Brook Hills volunteers. Ask God to bless their events and programs so many prisoners may know Christ and use their skills to lead transformed lives. Ask God to use their programming to raise up leaders and establish community amongst believers behind bars. Ask God to bring healing to their hearts, minds, and lives.

Day 4: Pray for advocacy efforts related to prison ministry. Ask God to continue to open the eyes of local churches to see the brokenness and injustice across our state. Ask God to continue to open doors for Alabama to honor the dignity of incarcerated people. Ask God to continue to raise up leaders to seek holistic restoration and godly reform for prisoners and systems.

Day 5: Pray for those in re-entry. Ask God to provide them with safe and reliable housing, transportation, and employment. Pray local churches would rally around them as they navigate stepping back into their communities. Pray for ongoing freedom from addiction and they would seek to use their God-given talents wisely.

Day 6: Pray for leaders who labor to serve prisoners and those in re-entry, like Brook Hills member Jeremy Miller, Prison Fellowship’s senior prison ministry manager. Ask God to give wisdom and discernment in abundance as they interact with those incarcerated, volunteers, and state officials. Ask God to continue to raise up others from our Faith Family to love and care for brothers and sisters behind bars.

This week we are praying for Beth W., one of our mid-termers serving in North Africa.

Day 1: Ask God to continue to work in the lives of the women that Beth and her roommate have been sharing with. Pray for one of her students, M, to have an open heart for the gospel. Pray for 3 sisters, F, M, and N who are disillusioned with their religion and asking good questions, for gospel seeds to be planted in good soil. Pray for L, a longtime friend of Beth’s, and N, a new friend, to experience the love of Christ through their friendship and be open to hearing and believing in the gospel.

Day 2: Pray Beth’s church would grow in faith and maturity and the Lord would add to their number, for the sake of His name and His glory in their city. Please pray they will abide with the Lord deeply, be dependent on Him in prayer, and “walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:1-3).

Day 3: Ask God to continue to use Beth’s church to faithfully proclaim the gospel through evangelism efforts, relationships, and the work of a local brother in their body who manages a Facebook page with ads. He has been meeting up with those who respond and are interested in learning more. Ask the Lord to strengthen this local brother, A, as well as Beth and others, and enable them to stand firm amidst the flaming darts of the evil one. Ask Him to give them wisdom and boldness in faithfully loving their friends and neighbors.

Day 4: Ask the Lord to help Beth this last month of teaching English to faithfully love those the Lord has placed in her life. And join her in praying, as she takes steps to open a wellness company, for the Lord to be honored, she would be granted favor with clients, and He would continue to open doors for more connections and relationships in order to bless the people in her city.

Day 5: Beth is seeking wisdom in her relationships and situations, and would like us to pray James 3:17-18, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who cultivate peace.”

Day 6: Pray for Beth’s heart to be steadfast and her hope to be in the Lord, not in her circumstances, and for her to run this race with endurance and continue to look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of her faith (Heb. 12:1-2).
