Pray for the Church
Praise God for the guidance, care, and guarding He provides for us. Ask Him to help us further learn to live in contentment with all He has given us. Pray for all those walking through dark valleys to lean on God's strength and presence in our lives.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brother Bryan Mission (bbmission.com), a Christian residential recovery and work-readiness program ministering to economically, emotionally, and spiritually impoverished men in Birmingham. Brother Bryan Mission seeks to return each client to his family, church, and community free from addiction, with stable employment and housing and a healthy relationship with God and others. We are also praying for Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church and Pastor Caleb Click.
Day 1: Pray for the over 200 men who enter Brother Bryan Mission programs annually who are mired in substance abuse, criminal behavior, and homelessness. Pray they would enter into a saving relationship with Jesus. Pray they would commit to living a disciplined life under Jesus’ Lordship that brings glory to God.
Day 2: Pray for the hundreds of graduates from the Brother Bryan Mission programs to remain committed to the life of a disciple. Pray they would abstain from substance abuse and unhealthy relationships. Pray for ongoing opportunities for new beginnings and a persevering sense of purpose and belonging as a disciple of Jesus.
Day 3: Pray the ministry of Brother Bryan Mission would clearly display the gospel in word and deed to their clients. Pray for the love and words of Jesus to be felt and heard through the programs and services provided.
Day 4: Ask God to continue to use the space at Brother Bryan Mission as a place of refuge marked by hope and peace. Ask God to continue to give the leadership discernment to faithfully leverage their space in meeting the needs of men in their programs.
Day 5: Pray for the thousands of hurting and homeless people who still reside on the streets of Birmingham. Ask God to guide Brother Bryan Mission as they continue to engage these communities through outreach programs aimed at serving those who are homeless by meeting physical needs and proclaiming the gospel.
Day 6: Pray for Jim Etheredge, executive director, the staff, and volunteers as they labor in disciple-making. Ask God to foster a spirit of compassion and patience within them as they serve men in Birmingham. Pray against a spirit of discouragement and disillusionment in this challenging setting.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for a short term team that will be serving this coming week in Southeast Asia with one of our partners.
Day 1: Ask God to provide traveling mercies for the team as they leave for Southeast Asia. Pray they would be quickly revived after they arrive and the Lord will grant them good health and sustain them as they serve in the coming week.
Day 2: Pray for this team as they minister to children and families in a local community. Ask the Lord to use the VBS outreach to develop and strengthen relationships in that community.
Day 3: Ask God to give the team flexibility and grace with one another and those who will be participating in VBS. Pray they would serve well together and with our partners. Ask God to give them love for one another, humility, and unity as they work together.
Day 4: Ask the Lord to work in the lives of this short term team and for the Spirit to lead them and guide them. Pray they would display the love of Christ and the fruit of the Spirit would be evident to those they encounter.
Day 5: Ask the Lord to begin preparing the hearts of families and children to hear about the One True God. Ask God to open their eyes to the truth of the gospel and that they will see their need for Christ and turn to Him.
Day 6: Ask the Lord to encourage and strengthen the Church in Southeast Asia through our short term team. Pray their efforts will bring about fruit through this outreach and the Church will grow and flourish.
