Pray for the Church
Praise God for the true freedom that can only be found in Jesus Christ. Thank God for all those who have paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we experience here in our country and for the picture it is of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus on the Cross. Pray for God’s comfort for all those who are hurting, but especially for those who are missing loved ones this weekend. Ask God to help us all use our liberty not for our own benefit but for the sake of others coming to know the gospel.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Seeds of Impact (seedsofimpact.org), a local Christian nonprofit that equips moms in recovery with the parenting education and support needed to build strong, healthy families. Seeds of Impact seeks to change the trajectory of moms in hard places by addressing the root of generational cycles through classes, coaching sessions, and support groups. They serve women at The Lovelady Center and other partners of Brook Hills. We are also praying for Double Oak Community Church and Pastor Adam Robinson.
Day 1: Pray for the moms attending classes and support groups. Ask God to continue to bring healing to their hearts and lives. Ask God to cultivate deep relationships amongst the women. Ask Him to break generational cycles and for the women to seek transformation while in the program.
Day 2: Pray for the children whose moms relate to Seeds of Impact. Ask God to comfort kids deeply affected by trauma and past circumstances. Ask God to call them to Himself at a young age and continue to transform the trajectory of their lives.
Day 3: Pray for the launching of the new Reunification Classes. Ask God to use these classes to equip moms to navigate the reunification process with DHR. Pray for encouragement for the women as they take ownership of their journeys.
Day 4: Pray for the upcoming online support group for moms who have completed the Seeds of Impact program. Ask God to encourage the women attending. Pray for these moms to continue to seek healing. Ask God to deepen moms’ support systems through this group and give them endurance to continue seeking recovery.
Day 5: Pray for Seeds of Impact’s partnerships. Ask God to continue to use these relationships to connect with moms across the Greater Birmingham area. Ask Him to raise up more nonprofits and ministries for Seeds of Impact to partner with.
Day 6: Pray for Rachel Gunn, executive director of Seeds of Impact, along with the staff and leadership. Ask God to give them wisdom and discernment to see Him first in all things. Pray for a spirit of joy and perseverance as they come alongside women in hard places. Pray for generous giving to support the ministry.
Pray for the World
Over 500 million people worldwide ascribe to Buddhism. At the end of this month, many Buddhists will celebrate Wesak Day, which is observed with various spiritual, religious, and charitable acts in order to try and achieve eternal peace. This week we are praying for those who follow Buddhism and for our missionaries in Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia who long to see the people in these countries turn from the false hope they have in Buddhism to true hope in Christ.
Day 1: Pray for those who follow Buddhism to hear and comprehend the truth of Acts 4:12: salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved. During this holiday, as Buddhists are seeking spiritual enlightenment, ask the Lord to help them find true enlightenment, the hope of the gospel, and to turn from Buddhism to follow Jesus.
Day 2: Ask God to give our missionaries boldness to share in their local context. Ask God to give them new opportunities to share during this holiday and for hearts that are open and soft to the truth that leads to salvation.
Day 3: Pray for new believers in Christ to have courage and boldness to speak about Jesus during this holiday and beyond. Ask God to give them strength and faith especially when they are accused of betraying their family and their culture. Pray for our missionaries as they love them well and encourage them in the midst of persecution.
Day 4: Ask God to strengthen the Church in Asia. Pray for pastors as they grow in their knowledge of the Word and teach it with all boldness in an Acts 4:31 way. Pray for church members to grow in their faith and trust in Jesus, and to seek to share their faith during this holiday with family, friends, and neighbors.
Day 5: Ask the Lord to preserve and protect our missionaries as they endeavor to share the gospel, encourage the church, and make disciples in their various contexts. Ask God to remove barriers to the gospel and for the Church to grow in Asia. Ask God to give them endurance as they press into the work, so they would not be discouraged when they face opposition to the gospel.
Day 6: Ask God to call more missionaries who would be willing to go to Buddhist people groups who have not heard the Good News and where there is no church.
