Pray for the Church
Praise God for being our light, salvation, and stronghold. Pray for God to help us all grow in our dependence on Him, trusting His faithfulness toward us. Ask God to guide our steps throughout 2026.
Pray for the City
This week, in observance of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, we are interceding on behalf of human trafficking victims in the Greater Birmingham area. Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery involving the recruitment, transportation, or receipt of an individual by means of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of exploitation, many times involving minors. Birmingham has been identified as one of the six major hubs in the South for human trafficking with a reported $110 million industry. We are also praying for Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Pastor Chris Jones.
DAY 1: Pray for the victims and survivors in Birmingham. Pray for God to protect and deliver victims who have been unable to escape their circumstances. Ask God to bring healing and restoration to survivors and their families. Pray for God to bring all victims and survivors to saving faith in Jesus Christ and to deepen a steady and lasting hope in Him alone.
DAY 2: Pray for traffickers and buyers in the industry. Pray for God to awaken them to turn to Jesus, repent of their sin, and be transformed into forces for freedom. Ask God to also convict individuals struggling with pornography, an industry closely linked to sex trafficking, and free them from its captivity.
DAY 3: Pray for our law enforcement and justice systems. Ask God to give strength, wisdom, and endurance to police, lawyers, and judges who serve survivors. Pray for God to shed light on injustice in Birmingham and bring traffickers to justice. Pray for God to protect survivors as they testify and share their stories of oppression.
DAY 4: Pray for our partner The WellHouse, serving female survivors who have been sexually exploited. Ask God to provide in abundance any necessary resources and protection for the organization. Pray for God to give the leadership and staff discernment and spirits of perseverance to faithfully serve the women seeking restoration and healing.
DAY 5: Pray for our partner Blanket Fort Hope, serving child survivors of human trafficking. Pray for God to cultivate a space of tangible safety, hope, and healing for children and teens affected by trauma. Pray for God to forge their new Restoration Home into a place of refuge for the girls who will stay there. Ask Him to equip the leadership and staff to daily serve and meet the needs of children and teens with humility, gentleness, and tenacity.
DAY 6: Pray for God to compel the Church to seek justice for the oppressed. Pray for God to open our eyes to the injustice in our city and call workers and volunteers from among us to intercede for and serve victims and survivors of human trafficking.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the gospel to spread in hard-to-reach places. There are significant barriers to the spread of the gospel in many areas of the world. Join us in praying for our missionaries and others who need God to do a great work in order for the gospel to break through these barriers.
DAY 1: Spiritual Barriers. Pray for God to open the minds and hearts of unbelievers to the glory of Christ. Pray our missionaries and other believers would be bold to share the gospel and not shrink back from proclaiming Christ. Ask God to frustrate the efforts of the enemy to keep people in darkness and hinder the church’s mission .
DAY 2: Persecution. Ask God to work on behalf of Christians around the world who are persecuted for their faith. Pray the witness of the gospel would not be silenced, and pray those who are being intimidated because they identify with Jesus and follow Him would be strengthened in their faith. Pray those who are persecuting them would see their need for Christ, repent, and turn to Him.
DAY 3: Political Barriers. Pray for God to raise up trustworthy and honest leaders who would abolish laws that can make it difficult, or even illegal, for churches and individuals to follow Christ and grow in their faith in certain parts of the world. Ask God to grow His church even where it is illegal to worship as followers of Christ.
DAY 4: Linguistic and Cultural Barriers: Pray for our missionaries and others who are learning a new language and culture in order to share the gospel. Ask God to give them endurance and understanding. Pray they would fully understand the culture and language in order to make disciples and plant churches.
DAY 5: Natural Barriers: Pray for those who are going to areas of the world that are physically hard to reach and/or difficult to survive in due to geographic isolation, difficult weather conditions, inhospitable environments, or other factors. Ask God to go before them and provide the means to live and work in difficult areas of the world where people need to hear the gospel.
DAY 6: Social Barriers: Ask God to help our missionaries and others who live in places where discrimination and opposition based on religion, ethnicity, or background can make it difficult to work and share the gospel. Pray for God to open the doors for relationships in order to befriend unbelievers and share the Good News with them. Ask God to help them establish businesses and relationships that will endure.
