Pray for the Church
Praise God the Father for sending His Son, Jesus Christ and for displaying His glory through Him. Ask Him to give us all eyes to see to behold His glory this holiday season in fresh ways. Pray He will use us to help others behold and respond to His glory this Christmas
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brother Bryan Mission (bbmission.com), a Christian residential recovery and work-readiness program ministering to economically, emotionally, and spiritually impoverished men in Birmingham. Brother Bryan Mission seeks to return each client to his family, church, and community free from addiction, with stable employment and housing, and with a healthy relationship with God and others. We are also praying for First Baptist Church Trussville and Pastor Buddy Champion.
DAY 1: Pray that the ministry of Brother Bryan Mission would clearly display the gospel in word and deed to men who are mired in substance abuse, criminal behavior, and homelessness. Pray that the love and words of Jesus would be felt and heard through the programs and services provided.
DAY 2: Pray for the over 200 men who enter Brother Bryan Mission programs annually. Pray that they would enter into a saving relationship with Jesus. Pray that they would commit to living a disciplined life under Jesus’ Lordship and brings glory to God.
DAY 3: Pray for the hundreds of graduates from the programs at Brother Bryan Mission to remain committed to the life of a disciple. Pray that they would abstain from substance abuse and unhealthy relationships. Pray for ongoing opportunities for new beginnings and a persevering sense of purpose and belonging as a disciple of Jesus.
DAY 4: Pray for the staff and volunteers as they labor in disciple-making. Pray that they would feel a fresh anointing and vision for the future of the ministry. Pray that God would foster a spirit of compassion and patience within them as they serve men in Birmingham. Pray against a spirit of discouragement and disillusionment in this challenging setting.
DAY 5: Pray that God would continue to use the space at Brother Bryan Mission as a place of refuge, marked by hope and peace. Pray that God would continue to give the leadership discernment about how to faithfully leverage their space in meeting the needs of men in their programs.
DAY 6: Pray for the thousands of hurting and homeless people who still reside on the streets of Birmingham. Pray that God would guide Brother Bryan Mission as they continue to engage these communities through outreach programs aimed at serving the homeless by meeting physical needs and proclaiming the gospel.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our long-termers Joanna and Philip serving in SE Asia. The gospel has been in their country for 100 years, and there's been a full Bible translated since 1954. However, the country is still largely unreached. Many people have engaged in evangelism efforts but return to Buddhism due to misunderstanding the full gospel, lack of good discipleship, and bad examples of foreign believers.
DAY 1: Please pray for local believers and foreign workers to have courage to keep sharing the gospel. Ask God to provide soft hearts to hear the Good News, accept it, and bear fruit.
DAY 2: Ask God to form Bible study groups among people who are interested in Jesus. Ask God to move on behalf of entire families, to lead them to believe together, and pray for the Holy Spirit to strengthen marriages and transform splintered relationships into healthy and loving families.
DAY 3: Pray for the gospel to be faithfully preached from every pulpit on Sundays. Ask God to expose the prosperity gospel and cults that frequently pop up in the country.
DAY 4: Ask God to enable believers to meet together in groups for better discipleship and clear understanding of the Bible's narrative, stories, and the gospel.
DAY 5: Pray for Cambodian believers to adopt children who need loving families. Abandoning children into orphanages is very common after remarrying. Pray for the church to shine brightly in this area and for traumatized kids to know their good and loving Heavenly Father.
DAY 6: Please pray for Philip and Joanna’s family to abide in Christ together and help lead other families to faith. Praise God for their foster son! Please pray for the adoption process to be smooth and straightforward and for the U.S. to recognize the adoption and grant him a passport so they can travel together as a family when needed.
