Pray for the Church
Praise God for His Word and for blessing our study of Hebrews 11. Ask Him to grow our faith individually and corporately as we fix our eyes on Christ and follow Him together.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for our International Care Team. The mission and vision of our International Care Team is to meet immediate physical and civil needs of internationals in Birmingham so we can have the opportunity to meet spiritual needs as well. A significant way the team currently serves our international community is through providing transportation to and from our ESL classes. Additionally, they also support meeting needs such as food, furniture, and friendship for refugee families, many of whom are from least-reached people groups. All this is done to display the love of Christ and provide an avenue to share the gospel in hopes that one day internationals in Birmingham will put their faith in Jesus Christ. We are also praying for Briarwood Presbyterian Church and Pastor Scott Redd.
DAY 1: Pray for the people God sends our way from unreached contexts and ask Him to open their hearts to the life-changing truth of the gospel—a truth many of them have never heard.
DAY 2: Pray for the International Care Team to love internationals well and for internationals to be attracted to Christ through their love and hospitality.
DAY 3: Pray for Brook Hills members to volunteer with the International Care Team in ways appropriate for their season of life, whether it be by offering their truck to move a bed for a family, by being a friend to a mother with young children, or by occasionally driving someone to a doctor’s appointment or to pick up food
DAY 4: Pray specifically for more volunteers to offer rides to ESL students on Thursday mornings and Thursday evenings so they can attend classes and build and deepen more relationships with followers of Jesus.
DAY 5: Pray for God to orchestrate clarity in conversations and help internationals understand the gospel even in places where the language barrier can make it more difficult.
DAY 6: Pray for God to draw many people to Himself through the collective work of Brook Hills members through the International Care Team and for many people from hard-to-reach places to know and follow Jesus as a result.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our long-termers Chris and Leah and their children serving in the Middle East.
DAY 1: Chris and Leah live in a very large, diverse city. Many nations are represented in the population. Pray God will use Chris and Leah to share the Good News in their neighborhood and through their local church.
DAY 2: Ask God to bless the church where Chris serves as an elder. Ask the Lord to guide and direct the efforts of the local church in reaching those from different countries and cultures who come to live and work in their city. Pray for God to bless their church planting efforts.
DAY 3: Pray for Leah as she homeschools their children and they engage with neighbors and others in their community through sports activities. Ask God to enable them to boldly share the gospel with those they come in contact with.
DAY 4: Pray for Chris and Leah as they serve in leadership roles with their sending organization. Ask the Lord to give them strength, compassion, grace, and wisdom as they pour into team members and mobilize teams in the Middle East.
DAY 5: One of Chris and Leah’s children has professed faith in Christ. Pray he grows in his love for Christ and matures in his faith. Pray for their remaining children, for God to draw them to Himself, and for them to follow Christ as soon as they are able.
DAY 6: Pray for meetings taking place in October that could have a great impact on cities in the Arabian Peninsula. Pray for Chris as he leads these meetings and for those involved to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and what He is doing.
