Pray for the Church
Praise God for refuge we find in Him. Pray for us all to take risks and be bold for the sake of others coming to know the forgiveness from sins they can find through faith in Jesus.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Oak Tree Ministries (oaktreeministries.org), a Christ-centered ministry that partners with Brook Hills to labor with the people of Mark’s Village in fulfillment of God’s promises in Isaiah 61. The verses of Isaiah 61:3-4 will guide our prayer for Oak Tree Ministries this week. We are also praying for Household of Faith in East Lake and Pastor Larry Cockrell.
DAY 1: Pray for Oak Tree to be a literal picture of rebuilding the ancient ruins through creative and meaningful use of their space and resources, including the renovation of their new property. Pray for many lives to be transformed by the power of our Lord Jesus through the Newman Center for Renewal offering biblical counseling and workforce development).
DAY 2: Pray Oak Tree would offer biblical “shalom” through community development adding value to their community through intellectual, spiritual, and occupational resources, such as educational partnerships (like Love Oliver) and job creation (like their screen-printing business, Renew Printing.)
DAY 3: Pray for Oak Tree to be a part of restoration in long-devastated places through holistic care, including spiritual, mental, and physical support in the name of Jesus. Pray for provision of new supporters to strengthen this work through their Oaks of Righteousness 10 Year Celebration Dinner on September 25.
DAY 4: Pray the trauma-informed practices implemented at Oak Tree will lead to healing from past, present, and future devastations. Knowing the Lord loves justice (Micah 6:8) and desires biblical justice to be accomplished through His church, pray for all dividing walls of hostility to be destroyed. (Eph 2:14).
DAY 5: Ask God to use Oak Tree and Brook Hills to be a part of renewal in the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations as we share Jesus with our words and prove we believe with our actions. Pray for staff, neighbors, volunteers, and partners to bring glory to God through mutually transforming and healing relationships in their programs. Pray against discouragement and for patience as the team and community continue to grieve recent significant losses.
DAY 6: Pray for Oak Tree, through their gospel-centered approach, to develop a reputation in Marks Village where it may be said as the earth brings forth sprouts and a garden causes what is sown to sprout, The LORD God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up in Marks Village through the salvation of many until the trumpet sounds. Pray that at His coming, He would find His people there faithfully exulting in His name, clothed in garments of salvation and wearing Christ’s robe of righteousness (Is 61:11)
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Tyler B, a long-termer serving in Europe to reach migrants and refugees.
DAY 1: Ask God to draw immigrants and refugees to the ministries and outreach efforts that have been coordinated to reach them. Pray for relationships to develop and grow with those who are migrating and fleeing to the city where Tyler lives.
DAY 2: Pray for The Mosaik, a ministry to refugees, working to connect and engage them through efforts like the Language Cafe. Ask the Lord to open the hearts of immigrants and refugees to hear the gospel. Pray for other groups in Tyler’s city who are reaching out to the refugee community, and ask the Lord to bless their efforts.
DAY 3: Ask God to bless the Bible studies at The Oasis. Ask God to grow the faith of believers who attend, and pray for those who do not know Him to come to faith as they hear the Word.
DAY 4: Pray for the Lord to strengthen local churches and develop within them a burden to reach the immigrants and refugees coming to Europe. Ask God to grow and deepen partnerships between the local churches and outreach ministries in Tyler’s city.
DAY 5: Pray for the Lord to work through the church in Europe to grow spiritually and to use believers to boldly advance the gospel..
DAY 6: Ask the Lord to provide additional US church partners for the work in Europe. Ask Him to raise up believers to reach immigrants and refugees in Europe with the gospel.
