Pray for the Church
Praise God for all the college students He has brought to our faith family. Pray for them as they pursue their education and careers. Ask the Lord to guide them to see the roles they have to play in the church and the spread of His Kingdom. Pray for Ryan O’Neal, our College Minister, and ask God to bless him and his family as he ministers to all of our college-age students.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Lifeline Children’s Services (lifelinechild.org), a Christ-centered holistic orphan care ministry based here in Birmingham. Lifeline serves families by supporting them in adoption, foster care, education, and international orphan care. They partner with Brook Hills to train for foster care, support foster care and adoptive families, and equip us for trauma care. We are also praying for Homewood Community Church and Pastor Tom Franklin.
DAY 1: Pray for Lifeline’s Pregnancy Counseling Ministry. Pray expectant mothers would find Lifeline and feel led to reach out to them. Pray for these women to see the hope in adoption and choose life. Pray for the pregnancy counselors as they walk with these families. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide their conversations and ultimately point them towards Jesus. Pray for local churches to be ready to disciple and mentor women in unexpected pregnancies.
DAY 2: Pray for Lifeline’s Foster Care and Family Restoration Ministry. Pray for the Lord to bring families who are mission-minded and have hearts ready to share the gospel with kids entering their homes. Pray for Lifeline’s ongoing relationship with DHR to continue to grow and deepen. Pray for the children in foster care. Pray for them to find healing, for a quick reunification process when safe, and for families to feel supported. Pray for more foster families willing to take older children, teens, sibling groups, and medical special needs.
DAY 3: Pray for Lifeline’s Global Orphan Care Ministry. Pray for the estimated 140 million children around the world living in orphanages and the 38,493 teens aging out of those facilities every day. Pray for the staff as they seek to train orphanage workers, equip local churches, and love and care for these children well.
DAY 4: Pray for Lifeline’s Domestic Adoption Program. Pray for birthparents to see Jesus in the families they chose for their little ones. Pray for adoptive families to know how to disciple and care for their child and for their child’s birth family. Pray for families who are open to children with special needs. Also, pray for endurance for those who have been waiting a long time for a chance at adoption.
DAY 5: Pray for Lifeline’s International Adoption Program working in 19 countries around the world. Pray for encouragement and strength for the social workers who work diligently to make international adoptions possible. Ask the Lord to bring Lifeline families who are mission-minded and gospel-centered and to provide the financial provisions needed for those families. Pray for families called to pursue older children, sibling groups, and children with special needs.
DAY 6: Pray for Lifeline’s Staff. Pray each staff member is encouraged in the work of the Lord through the ministry. Pray for open staff positions across the country to be filled, and for wisdom for those involved in the interviews. Pray for the leadership of Lifeline (staff and boards) to make God-honoring decisions in continuing to steer the ministry of Lifeline and its growth.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our long-termers J and M living and serving in North Africa.
DAY 1: Pray for M as she has had the opportunity to begin to disciple some women who recently professed faith in Christ. Ask the Lord to give her patience, faithfulness, and wisdom as she loves and leads these women in their new walk with Christ.
DAY 2: Pray for Rachel, one of the new believers, for her heart and mind to be transformed as she and M read the book of Acts together. Pray for Rachel to grow and flourish in their church where the Word is being faithfully preached.
DAY 3: Pray for the Lord to continue to work in the life of Adam, one of J’s friends he has been meeting with. For the first time in a long while Adam is expressing interest in spiritual things and let J share the gospel with him. Ask the Lord to open Adam’s eyes to his lostness and the futility of his current religion, and pray He would understand the Good News and follow Jesus.
DAY 4: Ask God to strengthen J’s faith and give him wisdom as he helps lead in their international church as an elder. Pray for God to bind the hearts of the elders together in unity, and pray they would lead the church boldly and with love and compassion.
DAY 5: Ask God to strengthen their church, and pray they would be faithful to hold firm to the gospel, maintain their unity in the bond of peace, and grow in their evangelism to their community. Ask the Lord to provide a Senior Pastor for their church.
DAY 6: Ask the Lord to work in and through J and M, and pray they would trust His sovereignty in all things and spend their time wisely in evangelism, discipling relationships, and church strengthening work. Pray they would be faithful to point their children to the gospel and the Scriptures, and for them tol come to faith as soon as they are able.
