Pray for the Church
Praise God for leading us to come to see and know Jesus as the Messiah, God the Son, our Savior and King. Pray for us all to be bold in our confession and witness to who Christ is and what He has done for us and in us. Pray for Him to grow His Church through our shared confession
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Iglesia la Conexion (our Hispanic congregation) and their ministry to one another, to our city, and to the nations. Iglesia la Conexion moved to Hoover three years ago where their attendance and membership has been growing regularly. Through their ministry and service, they have welcomed new members into their congregation, met needs in Jesus’ name in their community, and served refugees and immigrants as they have settled in the Birmingham area. The gospel is being proclaimed clearly to the nations through their ministry. We are also praying for Abner Aguilar, Pastor of Iglesia la Conexion.
DAY 1: Pray for ILC’s upcoming outreach event, a back-to-school-party, for Spanish-speaking families on Saturday, July 26. Pray as visitors and families come on campus they will feel welcomed by the ILC members and be open to gospel conversations.
DAY 2: Pray for Pastor Abner and other ILC leaders to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to have God’s wisdom as they oversee their many avenues of ministry: evangelism, discipleship, small groups, worship, and missions.
DAY 3: Pray for God to use ILC to make an impact in Hoover and across Birmingham, among Spanish-speaking individuals and families, through their outreach initiatives, small groups, music classes, after-school reading program, biblical counseling, and special events.
DAY 4: Pray for God to raise up more leaders to meet their goal of starting new Spanish-speaking small groups in Hoover. Pray for the development of their leadership team to oversee financial and personnel matters and guide them toward becoming an independent church.
DAY 5: Pray that during this time of uncertainty for many immigrants, members of our Hispanic congregation would put their trust in God for protection and guidance and would remain focused on their mission to glorify God by making disciples of every language, tribe, and nation.
DAY 6: Pray for God to continue to add members to Iglesia la Conexion and for the members to continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for one of our partners, Neverthirst, and the work they are doing around the world. Through your faithfulness in giving to the Global Offering, Brook Hills has partnered with Neverthirst to fund eight tap stands in Chad and one to be completed in Niger later this year.
DAY 1: Pray for Neverthirst as they are in the initial weeks of launching a new season of program initiatives in Cambodia, India, and Nepal. Pray for the preparatory work of initial site assessments, securing agreements with local leaders and contractors, and equipping local pastors and believers to serve alongside projects planned for the year ahead to go smoothly and for the Lord to open many doors.
DAY 2: Neverthirst is piloting a major water infrastructure project in a new country in the Middle East. This pioneering work will be very different from anything they have done before. There are no local churches in this region who can participate in the project. Pray for the Lord to give them wisdom and guidance and provide for this work.
DAY 3: Pray for this pioneering effort as they focus on Christian witness with the local partners and staff inviting church leaders from a neighboring country to build relationships in this region. Ask the Lord to help them as they pursue to develop this project into a long-term program to address clean water and introduce Jesus as the Living Water.
DAY 4: Pray for the Neverthirst teams living and serving in the field. Ask the Lord to bring encouragement to their staff through their witness, and pray for the gospel to bear fruit in communities. Pray for their physical, spiritual, and mental wellbeing and for their families. Pray the Church will gain favor through its participation in water projects and for new believers to grow in their understanding and delight of the gospel despite the cost.
DAY 5: Through the Global Offering, Brook Hills is funding a project in Niger which will be completed toward the end of the year. Once the heaviest rain passes and teams can safely access the area, they will complete remaining installation tasks and reporting of each project. Pray for the project to be able to move forward and for the Lord to use it to bless the community and for the gospel to be proclaimed as the community engages with the local church.
DAY 6: Ask God to continue to use Neverthirst and its partnership with local churches around the world to meet great physical and spiritual needs. Pray for their leadership and staff to be led by the Spirit and for the Lord to bless their efforts as He leads them.
