Pray for the Church
Praise God for the many different servant leaders He has given us at Brook Hills, and thank Him for the elders He has called out from among us to shepherd us. Ask God to give wisdom to our entire elder council. Pray for Him to help all of our elders guard their hearts and conduct. Pray for them all to follow Christ first to serve as an example of how we too may follow Him together.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the Brook Hills ESL Ministry (English As a Second Language). The ESL Ministry serves English learners in Birmingham by providing free English classes to international women on Thursday mornings at Brook Hills and families on Thursday evenings at First Baptist Hoover. The ESL Ministry aims to extend Christian hospitality, establish community, teach English, and share the love of Jesus Christ with internationals living in Birmingham. We are also praying for First Baptist Church, Hoover, and Pastor Eric Roberts.
DAY 1: Pray for the 275 international adults representing 34 countries who were a part of our ESL ministry last year, as well as those who the Lord will call to join us this Fall. Pray for God to give them the patience, skills, and mental strength necessary to learn the English language. Pray they will all hear and understand the gospel.
DAY 2: Pray for the preschool, elementary, middle, and high school kids who participate in the ESL Children/Teen’s Program while their parents are in class. Pray they will be peaceful and eager to learn new truths about God each week from their Bible-centered lessons. Pray they will understand and believe the gospel.
DAY 3: Pray for more volunteers to teach adults or serve preschoolers, children, and teens and for others to serve on the International Care Team. Pray for the faithfulness of volunteers in every area of this ministry to cultivate a safe, hospitable, loving environment for the adults and their children.
DAY 4: Pray for those who have come to know Christ through the ESL Ministry to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, grow in their faith, gather with a local church, and make disciples.
DAY 5: Pray for the ESL women’s Bible study meeting on Tuesday mornings at Brook Hills. Pray these students, from a variety of spiritual backgrounds will receive the Word of God and be transformed by it.
DAY 6: Pray for the Brook Hills International Care Team as they seek to meet the ever-pressing needs of the internationals we serve. Pray for internationals in Birmingham to experience the love of Christ in tangible ways that open doors for volunteers to share the gospel.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for God to work and restore peace in the midst of the recent conflict between Israel and Iran.
DAY 1: Pray for God’s mercy and restraint over the Middle East. Ask God to work mightily in the midst of the recent conflicts to prevent further escalation and loss of life.
DAY 2: Pray for the protection and perseverance of our brothers and sisters in Christ who live in Israel and Iran. Ask God to enable them to stand firm in their faith and trust in Him.
DAY 3: Ask God to give missionary organizations and gospel workers wisdom and discernment as they navigate these challenging times.
DAY 4: Pray for God to work in and through His church in the midst of conflict. Ask the Lord to preserve His church and help them to serve in compassion and strength and show the love of Christ to those in distress.
DAY 5: Ask God, by His Spirit, to work in the hearts of believers in the midst of fear and confusion. Pray He would sustain them, guide them, and use them for His glory.
DAY 6: Pray for God to soften hard hearts and open closed minds to the gospel. Pray believers will be faithful to share and proclaim their hope in Christ to people around them.
