Pray for the Church
Praise God for Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, which made the way for us to be reconciled to Him. Confess and repent of your own sin in your life, and ask and thank God for His forgiveness. Praise Him for Jesus’ resurrection, which demonstrates His power over sin and death. Thank God for the faith He grants us by His grace so we will be saved.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for our Love Oliver Ready Day One school registration party happening Saturday, May 18 at the Gate City Festival. This event also partners with Birmingham Vine Church, Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank, Oak Tree Ministries, and Village Church. These Love Oliver partnerships provide an avenue for Brook Hills members and other community partners to join hands with Oliver families in addressing economic, academic, and social barriers as we pursue disciple-making and grow in Christlikeness while we love one another. We are also praying for Birmingham Vine Church and Pastor George Whitlock.
DAY 1: Pray for each family to enjoy the Gate City Festival and Ready Day One party. Pray as they receive diapers, backpacks, clothing, gift cards, food, music, and a message they would be encouraged by the love of Christ through His Body of believers who have joined together to love and serve them.
DAY 2: Pray for the Gate City Festival and Ready Day One to be a fruitful day of evangelism and for every participant to be touched in some way by the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray for gospel conversations. Pray we can effectively connect believers to local churches to continue their discipleship and grow in their walk with the Lord.
DAY 3: Pray for the students and families of Oliver Elementary School and all those living in Gate City. Ask the Lord to protect their families, bless their homes, and continue to draw these families to Himself. Pray their homes would become places of peace and for believers to act as a light for the gospel among their neighbors.
DAY 4: Pray for the teachers and staff at Oliver Elementary School. Ask the Lord to draw all of them to Himself and for the gospel to be seen through the believers’ words and deeds. Pray for health, safety, skill, and strength for every staff member. Pray the teachers and staff’s love for the children will be seen and felt by all who enter their building.
DAY 5: Pray for members of our faith family and others in the community who will be investing in disciple-making relationships with Oliver families through one of the many serving opportunities at Oliver and with our partners. Ask God to send more laborers into His harvest.
DAY 6: Pray for all our community partners in the Gate City Community, especially Oak Tree Ministries. Ask the Lord to continue to greatly bless their ministries and churches, and pray the beautiful story of the gospel will be made known far and wide because of their efforts.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the Buddhist nations of Cambodia and Thailand. April marks their biggest holiday, and many people visit temples to make offerings for deceased family members and to gain good karma for their living families. It's also an important time for people in the big cities to visit their hometowns for family reunions and parties. Please join us in praying for God to move during this time to reveal Himself to those seeking eternal life and peace with God.
DAY 1: Pray for endurance for local believers and for spiritual strength as they share the gospel, even when others mock and mistreat them.
DAY 2: Pray for there to be a spiritual awakening across Southeast Asia through a movement of God’s Spirit.
DAY 3: Ask God to move in the hearts of people and help them to understand Jesus offers eternal hope and a home in Heaven for us.
DAY 4: Pray for locals to realize the futility of worshiping and sacrificing to idols. Ask God to turn their hearts from the worship of idols that cannot see or hear and have no real power.
DAY 5: Ask God to work in and through cross-cultural workers and local believers to effectively and clearly share the gospel.
DAY 6: Pray for families to repent and believe together and to put their hope in Jesus, not nameless spirits that do not love them.
