Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word. Ask Him to help us grow our commitment to and enjoyment of reading and studying the Scriptures. Pray for Him to use His Word to transform us more and more into the image of His Son.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Awaken (awakenrecovery.com), a gospel-based recovery ministry dedicated to helping people live the lives they were created to live free from the destructive effects of sexual brokenness. One of Awaken’s key desires is to establish and strengthen relationships with local churches to help them better understand and respond to these issues within their congregations. We are also praying for Dawson Family of Faith and Pastor David Eldridge.
DAY 1: Praise God for the increasing number of men and women walking through sexual brokenness who have connected with Awaken and are receiving help and support for their recovery. Pray for the 300 people who connect each week through Awaken’s 20+ recovery meetings in Alabama, Tennessee, and online.
DAY 2: Praise God for the new opportunities He is providing for them to connect with and support leaders - from churches and missions organizations - as they train their staff to more graciously and effectively care for people who struggle with unwanted or addictive sexual behaviors and sexual betrayal trauma.
DAY 3: Pray for spiritual and emotional protection for their staff: Greg and Stacey Oliver and Bobby West as they care for people in some of the darkest seasons of their lives.
DAY 4: Praise God for the new office space that will enable them to do their work more effectively while providing a supportive space for men and women in their community. Pray for the ministry that will occur in that space.
DAY 5: Pray for more donors to financially support the work. Each new area of growth represents great things God is doing, but also requires additional financial resources. Pray also Awaken will steward what God provides wisely.
DAY 6: Pray for God to use their podcast, “What We Really Want: Conversations About Connection” (awakenrecovery.com/podcast), to reach many people who would otherwise not know about Awaken and the help they offer.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the people of Cambodia and our teams working in this country. This month Cambodian Buddhists are celebrating a holiday called Pchum Ben. They believe the gates of hell are open for fifteen days, allowing souls of deceased family members to visit temples in order to eat physical food offered to them. Feeding these spirits is meant to give merit to the families and improve the statuses of deceased family members in the afterlife. Join us in praying for God to move during this time when the people of Cambodia are thinking about the life to come and searching for hope.
DAY 1: Spiritual darkness is persistent in Cambodia. Buddhism has a powerful grip in this country opposing the Truth. Pray for the hearts of Cambodians to be open to the gospel, particularly during the Pchum Ben holiday.
DAY 2: Pray on behalf of local believers, that they would build themselves up in the faith and pray at all times in the Spirit (Jude 20). Pray for deep faith in Christ and humble endurance when they receive family pressures to make offerings at temples during the holiday.
DAY 3: Pray for our Brook Hills family serving long-term in Cambodia and other gospel workers there. Pray they would be a light among their neighbors and friends and to boldly and lovingly proclaim the good news.
DAY 4: Ask the Lord to give local believers boldness to share the gospel fearlessly and for Buddhist families to come to faith together.
DAY 5: Pray for the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of Cambodians and for them to recognize the one true God as Creator, Redeemer, and the Eternal One.
DAY 6: Our Brook Hills team in Cambodia works with local believers on a Facebook outreach ministry to help interest Buddhists in the gospel. Please pray for biblical content to grip the hearts of seekers and lead them to meet in person with our team members to hear the good news.
