Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word, for the faithful guidance He provides us, and for the loving patience He displays toward us. Pray for wisdom to know best how to navigate our choices in life. Ask God to strengthen us to persevere and to follow after Him. Ask Him to bring us conviction whenever we have wandered astray and for Him to restore us as He leads us to repentance.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brook Hills’ students and the Love Oliver zone students who will begin a new school year over the next couple of weeks. We also want to pray for their parents, teachers, administrators, mentors, and spiritual leaders as they work to equip their students to reach their full potential and enjoy God’s good design for their lives. We are also praying for Faith Community Fellowship and Pastor Steve McCarty.
DAY 1: Pray for all of the students in the Love Oliver zone as they begin school Monday, August 5. Pray for peace, patience, and wisdom to flood the halls of their schools and each student’s heart and mind. Pray they will embrace the education needed to enjoy God’s plans for their lives.
DAY 2: Pray for the administration at Oliver Elementary School. Pray for wisdom, patience, strength, and guidance for Mrs. Burney (principal) and Mr. Kendrick Graham (assistant principal) as they seek to prayerfully lead their staff and students to be all God created them to be.
DAY 3: Pray for the many partners that serve Oliver students and families seeking to help them understand and respond to the gospel, and enjoy God’s good design for their lives in all areas as they live in a trauma-impacted community.
DAY 4: Pray for all ages of Brook Hills students. Pray they would grow closer to Jesus this year and be bold in their witness. Pray they would take advantage of opportunities to influence friends, classmates, and school staff to know and grow in Christ as well. Pray Weekend 56 this past weekend for rising 6th graders and the Bible Presentation today for rising 1st graders will be catalytic for their faith development this year.
DAY 5: Pray all of the teachers, home school parents, and administrators would have wisdom, skill, sensitivity, patience, and endurance as they help students learn and grow to fulfill God’s purposes for them in their generation (Acts 13:16).
DAY 6: Pray for parents as they guide, encourage, and support their students this year. Pray they would be able to guide them toward stronger faith in Christ.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the country of Somalia. Positioned in the Horn of Africa, Somalia has a population of 17 million people – over 90% of them officially Muslim. This country has been ravaged by civil war and suffers from famine, political instability, droughts, and floods.
DAY 1: Ask the Lord to raise up honest politicians and help them create wise solutions for the many problems plaguing this country - displacement, joblessness, poverty, terrorism, drought, hunger, extremism. Pray this country would no longer be in conflict but at peace.
DAY 2: Pray for the Lord to strengthen the church and believers through an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and for them to be bold and courageous in sharing the hope they have in Christ.
DAY 3: Pray the Lord would open the eyes of the people in Somalia to see their need for a Savior and to trust in the only One who can truly rescue them.
DAY 4: Pray for new converts to be biblically discipled and grow in Jesus.
DAY 5: Ask the Lord to provide needed resources and aid to help those who are in great poverty and crises.
DAY 6: Pray for God to send more workers to Somalia to join other believers in reaching Somalis for Christ.
