College Minister

Ministry Role & Responsibility: I have the joy of leading our college students to love Jesus, grow in Jesus, and make disciples of Jesus. I absolutely love college students – college students are a force for the Kingdom and if stewarded well, they can have such a big impact within our local Church, on their campuses, in our city, and to the nations.

One’s college years are such a transformational time in one’s life; I am who I am today in a lot of ways due to those who invested in me spiritually during my college years. My wife and I often say that we want to impact a college student over their 4 years to change their next 40 years!

As a result, we want to 1) Reach, 2) Disciple, and 3) Mobilize college students to this end. We want to make students into wholistic disciples who leave our care loving Jesus, the Bible, the Nations, and the local Church more. If we do this right, it will impact how they use their lives – their singleness, marriages, parenting, and careers for the advancement of the gospel.

I’m excited about what God is doing in our College Ministry and incredibly thankful to be a part of it!

About Me: My wife, Haley, and I have been married for 8 years and have two daughters, Adalyn (4) and Lucy (2) and our third, Grace Bennett, coming very soon! I always wanted to be a Girl Dad so I’m in luck. I am from Middle Tennessee and graduated from Carson-Newman University with a B.A. in Communications and Social Work and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.Div and Th.M. in Biblical Counseling.

Haley and I spent our first two years of marriage in Auburn, AL where I was a Pastoral Ministry Intern at Lakeview Baptist where we then moved to New York City, as Haley pursued her Clinical Pharmacy Residency and we were a part of a Church Plant. Then, I had the joy of serving as as Pastor of Families and Discipleship at Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, TN where a large part of my ministry was focused on reaching college students at Union University.

We are absolutely thrilled to be at The Church at Brook Hills and in Birmingham, reaching college students here with the gospel! I love good food, good coffee, and going for a run.

Favorite Scripture:

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." - Matthew 6:33

Interesting Fact: I follow a primarily plant-based diet and absolutely love it. I’m happy to give you a TED talk on it if you’re ever interested.
