Dana Bussey
Other than my being God's grateful child, my most significant identity is that of being the Grandmother of the most phenomenal grandchildren ever created. I am a retired physician and have attended Brook Hills for 18 years. I have been involved with Mom Time for seven years and am so tremendously blessed by our Godly young moms.

Mohana Shull
I am originally from Chile. I met my husband, Jared, on a short-term mission trip and came to the US for the first time right before we got married fifteen years ago. We have two children, Nate and Isaiah. Our family lives in Homewood, and I work as a Spanish interpreter. I love cooking and having friends from our church over for dinner. I have led a Mom Time Small Group for ten years.

Vivian Garrett
I went to graduate school at Auburn and met my husband, Bill, in the Navigator ministry. We have been married for 37 years and have five daughters, who are all married. We also now have two grandsons. I love to read, being involved in politics, playing games, hiking, being around my sisters and ballroom dancing. I am currently studying Biblical Counseling at Birmingham Theological Seminary. I have been through many difficult things, and the only thing that has given me any comfort and consolation in my distress is God's Word.

Lee Karcher
I have been a Mom Time leader at Brook Hills for three years. I have been married to David for 26 years, and we have three grown daughters and one grandchild. I love to read, scrapbook, craft, and hang out on the lake with my family and friends. I LOVE going to concerts with my husband! Being a Mom Time leader has brought so much joy into my life. These moms teach me more than I teach them most weeks, and I always look forward to being with them.

Cathy Joiner
I have been married to Mike Joiner for over 42 years. We have one daughter, and she and her husband have one son. They are also foster parents and have one foster son in their home right now. We have been members of Brook Hills for 22 years, and I have led Mom Time groups for five years. I enjoy spending time with family, cooking/baking and volunteer work with Shelby Baptist Association.

Jill Howard
I am a graduate of Auburn University in Early Childhood Education, married to Troy and mother of four. I grew up in Mobile, AL but have lived in Birmingham for 30+ years. I enjoy hobbies like knitting and gardening. I am passionate about sharing my mistakes/small victories in the area of motherhood with young moms.

Allison Sowell
I’m the wife of Charles and mom to three young adult sons. Having finally finished homeschooling them, I have LOVED getting to focus some of my time with young women as a Mom Time leader at Brook Hills! The Lord has given me a real heart for mentoring young moms and coming alongside then to encourage them as wives and mothers!

Shawn Grubb
Rob and I have been married 32 years. We have three precious daughters, three wonderful
son-in-laws, four grandsons, and one granddaughter. It is one of my deepest joys to come
alongside young women, as they are in the midst of some of the hardest seasons of
their lives. It is my prayer that God could use my life’s experiences and testimony to
encourage others in this journey.

Beth Gilbert
My husband’s name is Terry, and we have been members at Brook Hills since 2010. We have three children and seven grandchildren. Two of our children and their families attend BH as well. I have been a leader at Mom Time for about seven years. I greatly enjoy getting to know young mothers and their families. It is truly an honor to watch as God works in their lives.

“Mom Time has been an incredible blessing in my life! The Lord has used these women to encourage me in my pursuit of Christ and mothering in His image. The friendships formed are genuine and some of the most meaningful I’ve ever had. So thankful that the Lord directed me to step out and get involved!”
