Want to learn more about our country's racial inequality and injustice? Spend the day with other Brook Hills members as we travel together to Montgomery to tour the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace & Justice.
We'll meet at the church to carpool and leave by 8:15 am. Make sure to eat breakfast (or bring a snack) as we won't be stopping until we arrive at the National Memorial for Peace & Justice at 10:00 am and won't be eating lunch until 1:00 pm.
Upon our arrival we will board a shuttle to the Legacy Museum where we will take a self-guided tour from 10:30 til 12:30. After the Legacy Museum, we will depart for lunch. You will have a choice of Dreamland BBQ, Cahawba House, or Bibb Street Pizza. Lunch is included in the cost. We will eat in groups so that we can have a time of discussion and reflection after touring the Museum.
We will meet back together at 2:00 pm at the Legacy Museum to board a return shuttle to the National Memorial for Peace & Justice where we will spend approximately an hour touring the outdoor monument. Our planned departure time is 4:00 pm, but you are free to leave as needed after lunch or when you finish touring the outdoor memorial.
Drivers are responsible for their own gas down and back, but if passengers could pitch in $5 per person to their driver to cover gas costs, that would be great.
If you'd be willing to drive, please indicate that on the registration form.
We should arrive back in Birmingham between 5:30 - 6:00 pm.
The cost is $10 per person which covers a donation to the museum and lunch. Registration is open until July 15th.
