Our next Singles 20s/30s Gathering will be a walking tour of Kelly Ingram Park and will focus on Birmingham's civil rights history. Led by a local history teacher who does tours for the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, this tour will explain the significance of different monuments and statues in the park and about key events and figures in Birmingham's civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s.
We'll meet at 8:45am on Saturday, August 8, at Kelly Ingram Park downtown, which is across the street from the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (6th Ave N./16th St. N.). Meet on the corner of the park across from 16th Street Baptist Church.
Attendees will have to sign a waiver and wear a mask before we can start the tour, so please arrive promptly and carve out time for finding street parking near the park. You'll want to wear comfortable shoes and clothing because the tour will be outside and will last one hour.
If you are coming, please RSVP below and complete this consent form.
