Primary Serve Opportunity

OBJECTIVE:

The Brook Hills ESL Ministry extends hospitality to internationals living in our city by providing free English classes, establishing community between people of different nationalities, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ through word and deed.


CLASS SCHEDULE:

  • Online Classes in Fall 2020: October 1, 2020 - December 17, 2020
  • Possible In-Person Classes in Spring 2021: February 4, 2021 - May 13, 2021
  • Classes break for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and Summer
  • Women's Classes for all levels on Thursday Mornings from 10-11:45 AM
  • Co-Ed Classes for all levels on Thursday Evenings from 6:15-8:00 PM 

MINISTRY TEAMS:

  • Lead & Assistant Teachers
  • Preschool & Children Teachers & Volunteers
  • Hospitality
  • Floaters / Subs
  • Security
  • Brunch/Dinner Meal Providers (Small Group Serving Opportunity)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Criminal Background Check is Required
  • BH membership is prioritized
  • No second language is required
  • Volunteer Orientation is on January 21, 2021, at 10am or 6pm
  • ESL Certification is required for lead teachers only (November 6 & 7, 2020). CLICK TO REGISTER.

STUDENT ADVOCACY TEAM

We're building an ESL Student Advocacy Team to serve as a resource to our ministry and to our students as they navigate life in America. If you're willing to assist our students with any of the following matters, please email Courtney Simpson or Kathy Woods. Those who are willing to assist will be contacted on an as-needed basis. 

  • Legal Advice / Immigration 
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Learning to Drive
  • Citizenship Test Practice
  • Interpretation (for special ESL events, Doctor Visits, Legal appts, etc,)
  • Transportation (a ride to ESL, etc.)
  • Financial Matters (opening a bank account, buying a car, renting a home, filing taxes, etc.)
