Isn't it wonderful that the Lord never thinks we are too old to learn something new? He loves to teach us to be more like Him. Over the last year, He has allowed me the opportunity to be a small group leader.

When the opportunity first came up, I felt totally inadequate. After all, I have the gift of hospitality, not teaching! For some reason, I thought in order to be a good small group leader I needed to have all the answers to all of life's questions. As I write this, that thought actually seems funny. However, God, in all His goodness reminded me that I do have all the answers. He has given them to me in His Word. One of the first things He directed me to is Titus 2:3-5, "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

We'll, there it is. No matter what I think I can do or am capable of, God has specifically instructed me as an older woman to train younger women in these things. He then gave me the verse from James 1:22, "But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." How could I possibly read my instructions to train younger women and then make an excuse why I can't do that? So, placing my faith in the One who is always faithful, I cling to the verse from 1 Peter 4:11 where it states, "If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ." That is what my heart longs for. To bring praise to God in all I do. In order to do that I must obey Him. That means trusting Him to use me in His service to others.

Our small group now welcomes women of all ages. It is amazing to witness how the Lord speaks to and transforms each of us as we encourage one another to follow after Him.
