I started back to seminary in the fall of 2015 to complete a degree in Christian Education, and the first book we read was, you guessed it, Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald Whitney.

Whenever I hear the word "discipline," I immediately recoil and feel defeated. But the topics that the author teaches and the manner in which he approaches them in the book did not leave me defeated but actually encouraged.

Remember, I’m the “to do” list girl, so I did finish the book and felt that I could actually take some small steps toward more spiritual discipline in my life. I finished it feeling that being more spiritually disciplined could actually be doable for for me.

Let me encourage you to give this book a try this summer!
