Pray for the Church
Praise God for calling us to join Him in His gospel mission. Pray for us to make the most of every opportunity we have to be a witness to the gospel. Ask Him to use us to make Him known to those around us and around the world, and pray for Him to save many through our loving witness.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Hearts in Hands, Inc, a local Christian non-profit ministry that provides home repair services and wheelchair ramp construction for poor and elderly people in the greater Birmingham area. Hearts in Hands (heartsinhands.org) strives to engage the poor with the gospel while meeting their physical needs. We are also praying for Redeemer Community Church in Avondale and Pastor Joel Brooks.
DAY 1: Pray Hearts in Hands will remain steadfast in exalting Jesus Christ in Birmingham as they serve low-income homeowners.
DAY 2: Pray for wisdom for the leadership team and staff as they respond to requests for assistance from across Birmingham.
DAY 3: Pray word of this ministry reaches those in need so they may encounter God’s love through the ministry of volunteers alongside Hearts in Hands. Pray for God to soften their hearts to the gospel and draw them to Himself.
DAY 4: Pray for volunteers as they grow in discipleship, and form relationships with one another and with those we serve. Pray for unity in the Body of Christ among those who are serving from different churches. Pray their display of unity will glorify Christ in the eyes of families being served and in neighbor’s hearts too.
DAY 5: Pray for more volunteers to serve with Hearts in Hands on the many upcoming wheelchair ramp projects this Fall, as well as the numerous small but critical handyman projects for people still waiting. Pray for safety for each volunteer as they serve.
DAY 6: Pray for ongoing provision of financial and material resources and God’s direction concerning the future of Hearts in Hands’ furniture ministry.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Maggie, one of our mid-termers serving in the Middle East.
DAY 1: Maggie lives in a very large city where the majority of the population is Muslim. Pray for Maggie as she strategically tries to engage with muslim women. Ask God to give her good friendships where she can engage in spiritual conversations.
DAY 2: Ask God to bless Maggie's efforts in learning the local language. Pray she would be diligent in her studies and for the Spirit to give her supernatural understanding. Pray for her to be bold to use the local language and engage people in it as she grows in her knowledge.
DAY 3: Pray for God to work in the friendships Maggie has established with other women in her city. Ask the Spirit to soften their hearts, to give Maggie the opportunity to share the Good News, and for gospel seeds to be planted and take root.
DAY 4: Pray for Maggie and the local fellowship where she is a member. Ask God to help her love and serve the church well. Ask God to continue to use the members of her local fellowship to encourage Maggie and for her to be an encouragement to others.
DAY 5: Ask God to grow Maggie in her walk with Christ. Pray she would abide in the Lord by time in His Word and in prayer, and ask Him to guard and keep her as she lives and works in her current context.
DAY 6: Pray for the people in her city who have not yet heard the Good News and for those who have left Islam and have New Life. Ask God to give believers boldness to share the Good News with others and for many to come to faith.
