Pray for the Church
Praise God for His provision in our lives and for the generosity of our fellow faith family members. Ask Him for wisdom as we consider our proposed budget for the next year. Pray for us all to consider how we might join Him in His work here in and through Brook Hills by giving of all He has given us in support. Pray for Him to multiply our gifts and use them for His purposes and His glory.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Red Mountain Grace, a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing gracious low-cost housing to out-of-town patients and caregivers during their extended medical stays in Birmingham. Red Mountain Grace was co-founded by Brook Hills member, Jason Carroll. We’re also praying this week for Red Mountain Church and Pastor Charles Johnson.
Day 1: Pray for the twenty families that are currently being housed through Red Mountain Grace. Pray for the Red Mountain Grace apartments to be places of warm hospitality and harbors of safety this holiday season.
Day 2: Pray for the gospel to be known and for lives to be changed through the work and words of staff and volunteers at Red Mountain Grace. Pray for the residents to find comfort and peace through the Lord Jesus Christ as they walk through the valley of medical trials.
Day 3: Pray for the caregivers and medical professionals of the patients currently residing at Red Mountain Grace. Pray for the Lord to give them wisdom on how best to care for their patients and loved ones.
Day 4: Pray for relief from financial stress for the residents of Red Mountain Grace. Pray for insurance to cover the procedures needed and for time away from work to not be a hindrance to receiving care.
Day 5: Pray for God to strengthen and guide the staff and volunteers and equip them with what they need to serve the sick and their families well. Pray for God to continue to encourage those serving on the front lines of Red Mountain Grace so that they can be an encouragement to others.
Day 6: Praise God for those that support Red Mountain Grace spiritually and financially. Pray for the Lord to continue to raise up new donors, board members, and volunteers to love visitors to our city facing medical crises.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for some of our long-term partners, Josh and Monika. They live and work in North Africa with their three children. Josh works at a language center coaching people studying Arabic, while Monika is a stay-at-home mom, who also helps teach English at the center. They are working together with several other families to establish an English-speaking church that will seek to serve as a model of biblical health and encouragement to other churches in our city.
Day 1: Pray for them to be disciplined to spend time daily in the Word and in prayer. Their days can get very busy with three little kids and life in general, but they long to keep this their top priority.
Day 2: Pray for Josh and Monika to use their time wisely. There are a lot of good things to do in their city, but pray for focus and for them to have clear priorities that guard their time.
Day 3: Pray for them to make deep and meaningful connections with the staff at the language center as they seek to share the gospel with them. Pray for hearts to be softened to the good news and for Josh and Monika to be faithful to make the most of every opportunity.
Day 4: Pray for Josh as he is starting to disciple a local friend and do accountability with him. They will meet every other week to read Scripture together. Pray for Josh to be diligent in his time with this local friend.
Day 5: Josh and Monika have several lost friends with whom they are actively seeking to share the gospel. Pray for boldness and for their hearts to be open to hearing the truth. Please also pray for them to be an example of Christ in how they communicate with their downstairs neighbor. She constantly complains that their kids are making too much noise and unfortunately it has become a daily stressor for them.
Day 6: Pray for their marriage. Pray for them to be a daily representation of the gospel to their children and to the people around them. Pray for Josh and Monika to be wise and loving as they parent their three small children, and pray for the kids to be a blessing.
