Overcoming Worry
"Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?  Matthew 6:25 (NIV)

"Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."  Matthew 6:34 (NIV)

The more we experience God"s faithfulness to be with us or to answer prayer, the more our trust is built up in Him.  The more we trust Him the less we worry.  Jesus in the passages above places the emphasis upon the importance of life, not the things we tend to place importance on.  Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow, live life fully each day.  Jesus raises an important question that we must answer, If God feeds the birds are you not much more important than they are?

The opposite of worry is trust.  God wants the circumstances of our lives to point us to Him.  He is sufficient for every need that we have.  God wants a living, viable relationship with us such that the person, and God, walk through life together.  When the disciples were in the boat rowing to the other side of the lake, a ferocious storm arose.  They rowed as hard as they could but made no real progress.  They felt they were doomed and began to cry out.

Jesus came to them walking on the very thing they were struggling with.  When He entered the boat with them, He rebuked the wind and the waves and they died down.  It is like that in life.  Our storms seem to much for us at times when we attempt to manage them ourselves.  When we invite Jesus to help us and trust Him, our storms are calmed.
