After Divorce
"Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, And lean not upon your own understanding: in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will direct your paths."  Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

The Psalmist said, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."  With the healing that is needed and the adjustments to single life pressing in on you, you need to experience the Lord is my refuge and strength.  You do not have to walk this time in your life alone.  The Lord is with you.  Find a church where other Christians will support you and befriend you.  We have Small Groups (Bible study groups) that will be happy to support and love you.  Don't trust your own understanding at this point while you are wounded and hurt.  You need direction and God will give it to you if you acknowledge Him.  He promises to direct your path.  Trusting in the Lord with all your heart, even while your heart is broken, is the right way to go.

Remember that you are walking through the process of grief as surely as having lost a loved one to death.  It takes time and sometimes help to walk through this process.  Don’t hesitate to ask for help or seek it.  God has made us to depend upon and minister to one another.  All of us need help from others at sometime.

Maybe your asking, how do I delight myself in the Lord?  God has many attributes spelled out in the Bible.  You will find that He is your rock to stand upon, your help, your guide, your hiding place and your shelter among many other truths.  As His Spirit teaches you, you will find strength for facing many of the circumstances that would otherwise overwhelm you.  You can trust God.  The more you experience God in personal ways, the stronger your faith will grow giving you confidence in facing life.  God still has a purpose for your life.
