Brook Hills uses an online automated system to send "eblasts," or broadcast email communication, to subscribers who request communication with us. When you fill in your email and submit it through a subscription box (like the one in the lefthand column on this page), you are entering your email into this system. This page exists to answer some common questions people have about our email system.

Q. Can You Sign Me Up for The Church's Email List?
No, we cannot. The system is purposely self-serve so that you can be assured we will not send "spam", which is unsolicited email. Those persons on our subscriber lists are only those who have signed up online, or have requested email communication with us in print (either on a new member card when you join the church, or on a Sunday Celebration Guide "welcome tab").

Q. I Signed Up But Have Not or No Longer Receive Email. What's Wrong?
Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may have blocked our email to you. This happens most often with America Online (AOL), Earthlink.net and Bellsouth.net. You may have typed your email address incorrectly when you registered. Or a mailbox full or other error may have caused our system to be unable to send you mail. When your ISP blocks our email, our system automatically removes your name from our sender list as a safety precaution. To restore your email selections, simply register your address again.

Also, be sure you have our eblast address--eblast@brookhills.org--stored in your address book, so that any spam blocker you might be running will not stop you from receiving our emails.

Q. I Have Spam-Blocking Software Installed. Can You Allow for This?
If you have spam-blocking software installed, our system may receive an automated email from you asking us to "verify our email address" or some other step required to continue to send you email. In this case, our software will simply remove your email address from our system. In order to by-pass your spam-blocking software, you will need to manually enter our sending address (eblast@brookhills.org) into your approved sender list. We cannot do this for you or respond to your spam-blocking system requests.

Q. I Cannot Use the Links Included In Your Email. What's Wrong?
All email links and formatting is tested before we send out email. Links and other options within our emails are best used when you choose to receive "HTML" formatted mail. Plain text mail often cannot pass along some of the features of our eblasts. If you are unable to read our email messages, try changing your preferences to receive "HTML" formatted mail.

Q. How Do I Change My Email Preferences?
We cannot change your email preferences for you. To change which lists you receive from Brook Hills, enter your email address into a subscribe box and click "Subscribe." You'll then see a dialog box indicating you already are a subscriber, and a link to click if you want to change your preferences. After clicking this link, you'll receive an email that will instruct you how to change your email preferences.

Q. How Do I Unsubscribe From Your Email List?
To unsubscribe from Brook Hills' email lists, enter your email address into a subscribe box and click "Subscribe." You'll then see a dialog box indicating you already are a subscriber, and a link to click if you want to change your preferences. After clicking this link, you'll receive an email that will instruct you how to unsubscribe your email address from our lists.

Q. I Am a Church Member. May I Access The Brook Hills Email List?
No. All email addresses are considered private and we cannot authorize any non-staff member to use our email system under any circumstances. If you have a ministry need that you feel should be included in an email blast, contact our Communications Ministry staff for assistance (see contact information below).
