Going Beyond Yourself
Jesus said that whenever we are serving others, we are also serving Him. Our service is a picture of Christ to the world--when we feed the hungry, provide clothes to the needy, provide education and help to the impoverished, or whatever the need.
One of the first things necessary to meet needs is to begin to see them. In the busy-ness of life, we often lose sight of needs all around us. Take a quick inventory of the needs in your circle of influence...
- Do you have friends who are going through a tough time?
- Do you have family members who need help?

- Who do you know who is sick or has been in the hospital lately?
- Do you know someone who has lost a job, has recently moved to town and doesn't know anyone, or who is not a believer?
All of the names that may come to your mind are more than "someone else's problem." They are people in your life that you have the opportunity to serve. See them, pray for them, and ask God to open a door for you to serve them in Jesus' name. Warning! Praying this prayer means one thing for you--when the door opens, you have to be willing to step through...
