Meals for ESL

On Thursday evenings, our church hosts free English as a Second Language classes for internationals in our community, and one way that you, your group of friends, and/or your small group can get involved is by helping to provide a meal one week for the ESL students and volunteers. Our hope is that, through these weekly meal times, our ESL students will have an encounter with the gospel.

Details:

  • When: Thursdays from 5:45-7:00 p.m. (January-May)
  • Where: Room 304 at the church
  • What to Bring: Brook Hills provides the main course, but you can sign up to bring a couple of side items and a dessert option. If your group would like to provide the entire meal and do a potluck, that is also an option. The goal is to do this once a month.
    • Side Options: bowl of fruit, green salad, pasta salad, potato salad, bags of chips, crock pot of green beans, crock pot of baked beans, mashed potatoes
      • Avoid pork or pork products because many of the ESL students do not eat this for religious reasons. They also try to have an option for their vegetarian students.
    • Dessert Options: cookies, brownies, sliced cake
  • How Many: Plan food for 60 people
  • Who to Contact if You Would Like to Bring Food: Please contact  at (931) 267-7873.
