New Staff Position Adds Upward Sports, Family Activities

As we strive to be “next generation stewards,” we want to offer ministries that allow families to grow together and build relationships with one another—and offer parents more opportunities to impart spiritual life principles to their children. Recreation Ministry is a fantastic means to accomplish this. The need for this area of ministry came into further focus this spring, when our Church Survey revealed that a staggering 73% of families at Brook Hills take their children to neighboring churches to participate in recreation.

This spring, our Lay Pastors and Personnel Team approved a new staff position for Recreation Ministry, and began seeking a qualified individual to fill this role. Our Personnel Team recently recommended an invitation be extended to a qualified candidate, and the Lay Pastors approved. We are thrilled to announce that Josh Caldwell will be joining our staff team on October 9, 2005, as Minister of Recreation.

Josh is a graduate of Samford University and has served in recreation ministry at a sister church in our city. Josh will be working to build a top-notch family and recreation ministry, including the popular and effective Upward Sports programs We are excited about what God will do in the life of our church through this new ministry.
