Update: March 5, 2007: T'was The Night Before Pre-Court
‘Twas the night before pre-court when in the baby house,
Little baby was sleeping as silent as a mouse.
 
The scene was quite different on the other side of town,
Where Dave and Heather were finding it hard to sleep sound.
 
A meeting was held in their apartment that night,
To prepare them for the judge and eliminate their fright.
 
They went over the questions they would be asked the next day,
So they would know precisely what they needed to say.
 
Why are you adopting and what led you here?
The story is long, so lend me your ear.
 
We've longed for a child for quite some time,
But we never could have envisioned a plan so sublime.
 
There were days when we thought God's timing was late,
But over and over, He said to us, "Just wait."
 
"I'm holding my blessing until the time's right,
When one day in Kazakhstan, I'll give you delight."
 
"You'll meet a young child who is like unto none,
And this is the child you’ll one day call 'son.'"
 
"Throughout the playroom he'll crawl and he'll roam,
The one called The Legend will soon dance in your home."
 
"He drinks coffee for breakfast and loves meatballs galore,
When you think he's finished eating, he’ll still want more."
 
"You'll sing to him, hold him, and gaze into his eyes,
And you'll understand the truth that I AM all-wise."
 
"That unitooth grin will capture your heart,
And you'll realize this journey is only the start."
 
"So don't worry or fret about the proceedings ahead,
For I've been in control, as my Word always said."
 
"I've watched over baby from the day of his birth,
He’s precious to Me--of infinite worth."
 
"I'm the Father to the fatherless and the Lord of your life,
And this week I'm entrusting this child to you and your wife."
 
So now we bow down as parents-to-be,
We want to be faithful so baby can see...
 
That You are the Father exalted on high,
Whose love can be trusted even when our hearts cry.
 
O Lord, we have longed, we have hurt, we have ached,
But You have designed this plan for Your sake.
 
So as we prepare for the hearings this week,
Every step of the way Your face we will seek.
 
Praise be to You, God, for the gift that You've shared,
We’ll lie down and sleep now, and rest in Your care.
