The Elder Council and Personnel Ministry Team have unanimously recommended Matt Mason to become the next Worship Pastor of The Church at Brook Hills. We are pleased to introduce him to the faith family.

Matt has served for the last ten years as the Worship Pastor of Lakeview Christian Center in New Orleans, LA (lakeviewchristiancenter.com).
Matt and his wife, Paula, have been married since 1996. They have three children: Hunter (13), Will (10), and Ellie (7). While attending Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Matt had the opportunity to be part of two live worship recordings as well as travel and minister across the U.S., England, and Canada. After getting married, Matt and Paula spent two years working with a missions organization in Mexico before joining the staff of LCC as a pastor in 2002.

Matt exemplifies the characteristics required of elders in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. He loves the Lord and loves his family well, and this overflows clearly into his leadership in the church. Matt has over twenty years of experience serving on Sunday morning worship teams. His abilities include not only playing and singing music but also writing musical arrangements, working with instrumentalists and vocalists, and teaching on worship in a variety of contexts. As a Worship Pastor, Matt wants to first and foremost be devoted to Scripture and then help the worship team, as well as the church at large, "form connections between the gospel, gathered worship and all-of-life-worship."
When asked how God's Word and prayer affects the way he leads, Matt responds: "I believe communion with God in the Word and prayer brings a heat, a passion, and a joy to my life and my calling. There I'm reminded of how gracious God has been to me and how much of a privilege it is to be a husband, father, and a pastor. Prayer and the Word often take me back to these life-changing truths."
Matt is a big believer in family worship. He has even written songs to help his own family, as well as others, memorize key answers to questions about God. Matt also sees a direct connection between our worship as God's gathered people and our mission as we scatter. He says, "The community of believers should palpably reflect God's purpose to save people from every tribe and people. The hope is that we would look around and see African, Hispanic, Asian brothers [and sisters] and many others as we worship together." He adds, "When worship ministry is properly focused, it fuels the engine of mission, near and far, in homes and communities and in foreign nations."
