In the wake of storms, tornadoes and other disasters that befall people in our community, The Church at Brook Hills and others in the Christian community in Birmingham are joining together to offer a variety of different avenues for you to be involved in sharing and showing the gospel amidst difficult and devastating circumstances. The following list represents ways you can be involved in helping.
If you are a Brook Hills member in need of assistance, please LET US KNOW.
How You Can Help...
We must not overlook the importance and benefit of prayer on behalf of individuals, families, and communities during circumstances like these. We ask that in your personal life, as well as in your family, your small group, or your church, that you pray intentionally, fervently, and continually according to the following needs…
- Pray for those affected by the recent storms. Ask God to be Comforter and Redeemer in their lives.
- Pray that God will give wisdom to leaders of various organizations who coordinate disaster relief and restoration efforts across affected areas.
- Pray that God will shower these communities with His sovereign mercy and loving provision.
Donations of relief supplies can be taken directly to Christian Service Mission downtown. The biggest supply needs right now are Gatorade, large trash bags, diapers, cleaning supplies, sandwich meat, storage bins and boxes, charcoal, and ice chests. You can check the Christian Service Mission Facebook page regularly for new updates of needs.
FOR BROOK HILLS MEMBERS:
Immediate Disaster Relief
Christian Service Mission will be mobilizing volunteers in Center Point again this weekend Saturday, February 11. Volunteers need to bring gloves, plastic storage bins to help families store their belongings, rakes, shovels and chain saw crews, if available. Anyone from Brook Hills who wants to help with tarps, debris removal, tree cutting, or residence clean up can do so through FBC Center Point. They are receiving volunteers each morning between 8:00am and 9:00am at the address below and are distributing the volunteer badges required to help serve the Center Point community.
Please register for the February 11 work day by filling out this form. Registering ahead of time will help us plan how many homes to have approved for debris removal. If you have any questions or problems please call 205-252-9907 for assistance.
